Lawn care and gardening have always been my therapy
I have worked for the last 15 years in the Aerospace Industry in machine shops that make structural components for commercial and military aircraft. I have had the privilege to work for some amazing business owners and executive leaders while managing multiple teams of my own. I am 47 years old and have always wanted to own my own business so last year in 2019, we stepped out on faith and left Aerospace and started Fair Lawn Service, LLC.
Lawn care and gardening have always been my therapy and preferred pastime so it made sense for us to enter the Green Industry offering lawn maintenance services. We purchased 18 accounts to get started and throughout the season, we grew to approximately 47 weekly clients. Additionally, we took on severely one-time jobs, such as landscape clean-ups, leaf clean-ups, etc. As a result, our first year in business was a humble success.
My wife (Amy) and I have been married for 20 years. We have two sons, Daniel (16) and Aaron (12). Amy helps our business by managing Payroll and Taxes. I manage everything else. My oldest son, Daniel, is a sophomore in high school and helps during the summer. My youngest son, Aaron, is in the sixth grade and can't wait to get in the field with us. We have three other part-time employees who help as needed.
During the 2020 season, we expect to put two more trucks on the road and double our gross sales over 2019. We have begun to focus on solidifying our brand and target specific local markets that are ideal for our equipment and preferred environment.
