🔥 Handrail Projects Are Underway! 🔥

We’ve got several custom handrail projects in our backlog, and we’re excited to start knocking them out one by one.

This beautiful new handrail completely transformed the space and tied everything together perfectly. The final result added both elegance and functionality, and the homeowners were thrilled with how it turned out.

We definitely forgot to take the before photos on this one, but trust us—the transformation was impressive!

🏡✨ Custom Hardwood Stairs, Seamless Transitions & a Stunning NordicSeal Finish ✨🏡

We’re excited to share another beautiful project completed by Legendary Custom Hardwoods.

This project included:
✔️ A custom set of open-end hardwood stairs
✔️ An outside skirt for a clean, high-end finished look
✔️ Installation of 2¼” Red Oak hardwood flooring in the lower-level living room
✔️ Sanding and refinishing of both the existing and newly installed flooring so everything blended seamlessly
✔️ Bona NordicSeal for a light, modern, elegant finish
✔️ Stone undercut at the fireplace so the hardwood slides underneath for a true seamless transition

As with all of our projects, we used professional dust containment equipment to keep airborne dust to a minimum and maintain a clean home throughout the process.

The handrail installation is still in progress, and we can’t wait to share photos of the completed railing system in a separate post.

This project turned out absolutely beautiful, and we are grateful to have worked with another wonderful set of homeowners.

🔨✨ Another Beautiful Red Oak Hardwood Flooring Project Completed by Legendary Custom Hardwoods ✨🔨

We recently completed another stunning hardwood flooring project featuring 2¼” Red Oak, professionally stained in the timeless and popular Early American color.

This project included:
✔️ Repairing several damaged areas of the existing hardwood flooring
✔️ Installing custom bullnosing around the stairwell for a clean, finished look
✔️ Sanding and refinishing the floor to create a seamless, uniform appearance throughout the space

The transformation turned out beautifully, and the Early American stain brought out the natural warmth and character of the red oak.

We’ll also be sharing a separate post featuring the custom handrail system we installed to complete this project.

It was a pleasure meeting and working with these wonderful homeowners, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help bring their vision to life. Most importantly, they were extremely happy with the final result.

🏡✨ Another Beautiful Hardwood Flooring Transformation by Legendary Custom Hardwoods ✨🏡

We recently completed a stunning hardwood flooring project that involved lacing in new flooring into three separate areas of the home, creating a seamless and natural flow throughout the space.

This project featured:
✔️ 2¼” Red Oak Hardwood Flooring
✔️ Professionally stained in a rich Nutmeg color
✔️ Precision lace-in work in three different areas
✔️ Stone undercut at the fireplace for a clean, seamless transition
✔️ Minimal dust with our advanced containment system (approximately 95% dust captured)

Instead of scribing around the stone fireplace, we carefully undercut the stone so the hardwood slides underneath for a much cleaner, more professional appearance. It’s details like this that truly set a project apart.

Even with extensive cutting and installation, our professional dust containment system and HEPA-equipped tools helped keep the home clean and comfortable throughout the process.

The finished floor turned out absolutely beautiful, and it was a pleasure meeting and working with these wonderful homeowners.

Two Vans. One Legacy. One Company.

If you’ve seen us on job sites recently, you may have noticed something — there are two vans parked out front.

One is our fully wrapped Legendary Custom Hardwoods van.
The other is a red van that says Xtreme Hardwoods on it.

We want to take a moment to clarify something for our community:

This is NOT two different companies.
It is one company. One family. One legacy.

The red van originally belonged to my grandfather. Xtreme Hardwoods was part of our family’s journey in this trade — long before Legendary Custom Hardwoods was established in 2017.

I purchased my grandfather’s van back about five years ago — not because we needed another vehicle, but because it represents where this all started.

That van carried tools, hardwood bundles, sanders, and decades of hard work. It was part of the foundation that shaped the craftsman I am today.

Now it’s back on job sites alongside our Legendary van — not as a separate company, but as part of the continued evolution of our family legacy.

We are currently working toward getting the red van professionally wrapped to match our Legendary Custom Hardwoods branding so everything is uniform moving forward. Until then, if you see both vans together, just know:

It’s all Legendary.
It’s all family.
It’s all one team.

From a four-door Tahoe and a storage unit in 2017… to multiple vans serving our community — we are incredibly grateful for how far this journey has come.

✨ Project Spotlight – Natural Hickory, Timeless Finish ✨

We recently completed a full sand and refinish on a beautiful hickory hardwood floor — and the results came out stunning.

Hickory is known for its bold grain patterns, natural variation, and strong character. By keeping the finish natural, we were able to highlight its rich movement and depth without masking the wood’s authentic beauty.

For this project, we applied the complete Bona finishing system from start to finish. Using a full-system approach ensures:

✔ Proper adhesion and long-term durability
✔ Exceptional clarity and consistent sheen
✔ Maximum protection against daily wear
✔ A professional, high-performance finish

The floor was carefully sanded to create a flat, uniform surface before applying our multi-coat finish system, ensuring both beauty and long-term protection.

Unfortunately, we did not get before pictures on this one — but trust us, the transformation was incredible. The natural hickory truly came back to life.

Grateful. Humbled. Motivated.

When we opened Legendary Custom Hardwoods back in 2017, it was one of the biggest — and honestly scariest — steps of my life.

We started out of a four-door Tahoe and a storage unit. No fancy setup. No big crew. Just a vision, a strong work ethic, and belief that if we stayed consistent and did things the right way, it would mean something one day.

Since then, we’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs. We’ve had wins that felt unreal, and challenges that tested us deeply. We’ve had people come and go — and that’s part of business and growth. But the ones who stayed loyal through the hard seasons… the ones who showed up, worked hard, believed in the mission — they are the real reason this company is still standing today.

To our team — past and present — thank you. The foundation of this company isn’t just wood and finish… it’s the people behind it.

To our community — thank you for believing in us. Thank you for trusting us in your homes. Thank you for the referrals, the reviews, the support, and the patience as we’ve grown and refined our systems over the years. Every opportunity meant more than you know.

🏡 Homeowner Education: Installing 5” Red Oak the RIGHT Way

When installing 5” #2 Red Oak solid hardwood flooring, the installation system matters just as much as the wood itself.

At Legendary Custom Hardwoods, we follow NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) guidelines for substrate preparation, moisture testing, and installation standards to ensure long-term performance and structural integrity.

For this project, we’re using a complete performance system:

✔ Bona RollGuard® – Silane-based v***r retarder
✔ Bona Quantum® R851 – High-performance wood flooring adhesive

📏 Subfloor Prep — Where Real Quality Begins

Before installation even begins, we thoroughly inspect the subfloor to ensure it meets NWFA flatness and structural standards.

For this project, we:

✔ Sanded down uneven seams in the subfloor
✔ Removed minor height variations at panel joints
✔ Ensured proper flatness tolerances per NWFA guidelines
✔ Verified moisture conditions were within acceptable ranges

Why does that matter?

Because even slight seam ridges can telegraph through wide plank hardwood over time — causing movement, hollow spots, or visible irregularities.

Subfloor flatness is one of the most overlooked steps in flooring… but it’s one of the most important.

Before installation, we verify moisture conditions meet NWFA guidelines.

When needed, we apply Bona RollGuard® to help control v***r emissions and protect your hardwood investment from below.

Moisture is the #1 cause of wood floor failure — and we treat it that way.

Wider plank solid hardwood (5” and above) requires extra attention to stability.

Using a full-spread glue system with Bona Quantum® R851, we:

• Increase floor stability
• Reduce seasonal movement

• Provide a flexible, long-term bond

This adhesive remains elastomeric — meaning it moves with the natural expansion and contraction of real hardwood.
