2025 has basically become the year of the living room jungle, so here are the five indoor plants I see people obsessing over the most right now, plus why they’re actually worth the hype.

Here’s a quick look at a few of them:

1. Monstera deliciosa

The Instagram celebrity with Swiss-cheese leaves

If houseplants had a movie star, it would be the Monstera. Those big, glossy leaves with dramatic holes (called “fenestrations”) are why it shows up in half the décor photos on the internet. Monsteras love bright, indirect light and will throw a fit if you park them in harsh direct sun for too long, so think “bright room, pulled back from the window.”

Fun bits:

The holes in the leaves let wind pass through in the wild and help the plant grab light without getting shredded by storms.

A healthy Monstera will slowly climb and can get huge, which means one plant can become your whole living-room statement piece.

Yellowing leaves usually mean watering or light issues, not “mystery plant disease,” so it’s fixable with a little detective work.

2. Snake plant (Dracaena trifasciata)

The plant for people who forget they own plants

Snake plants are everywhere in 2025, from apartments to offices, and there’s a reason: they’re ridiculously tough. They tolerate low light, survive missed waterings, and still look like you tried.
Planet Desert

Give them bright, indirect light if you want faster growth, but they’ll hang in there even under mediocre office lighting. They prefer their soil to dry out between waterings and would honestly rather you underwater them than fuss over them every other day.

Fun bits:

They grow “pups” that pop up from the soil, so one plant can turn into a little family over time.

Their upright leaves give serious modern, architectural vibes, so they look good in minimal, clean spaces.

---------
3. Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)

The chill, trailing roommate that forgives everything

Golden pothos is still one of the most popular trailing plants this year because it’s almost unkillable and looks good in pretty much any room. It can handle low light, bright light, and even just fluorescent bulbs, although it’s happiest in bright, indirect light.

Fun bits:

It’s nicknamed “devil’s ivy” because it stays green even when it’s neglected and is really hard to kill.
Happy Houseplants

You can trim a vine, stick the cuttings in water, and suddenly you’re in the plant-propagation business with free baby plants to share.

Long pothos vines can grow ten feet or more, which makes them perfect for shelves, hanging baskets, or that dramatic “plant waterfall” look.

4. Fiddle leaf fig (Ficus lyrata)

The drama queen that still rules design photos

Even though people love to complain about how fussy it is, the fiddle leaf fig is still a top “I want my place to look expensive” plant in 2025. Interior designers keep using it as a statement tree in living rooms and offices, and there’s a compact “Bambino” version that’s trending hard for smaller spaces.

It likes bright, indirect light, hates soggy soil, and does not appreciate being moved around every week. Once you find a happy spot, leave it there and let it settle in.

Fun bits:

People treat their fiddle leaf figs like pets, complete with names, Instagram accounts, and full emotional story arcs.

When it’s happy, it will push out big new leaves that look like someone polished them, which is crazy satisfying if you’ve babied it through an ugly phase.

---------
5. ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

The tank of the plant world

If you want something that looks classy but basically lives on “hard mode” for neglect, go with a ZZ plant. It’s one of the most recommended plants for offices and low-light corners because it can handle shade and long stretches without water.

ZZ plants have thick, glossy leaves and chunky stems that store water, which is why they can survive months of “oops, I forgot you existed.” They like their soil to dry out completely before you water again.

Fun bits:

The name stands for “Zanzibar gem,” which sounds way fancier than “plant I forgot to water for three weeks.”

They look extra sharp in modern pots on stands, so they’re perfect if you want something low maintenance that still feels intentional and styled.

If you’ve got one of these five and it’s looking rough instead of Insta-ready, that’s literally what I do with CO Green Works Plant Rehab Services.

Send me a picture of your struggling plant and tell me:

How often you water

What kind of light it gets

How long you’ve had it

I’ll help you figure out what it needs so it can glow up instead of give up. 🌿

Confession time: I’m the friend people text at 10pm like, “Bro… why is my plant crispy and sad?” 🌿💀

Colorado is brutal on plants – high altitude sun, dry air, random temperature swings – it’s like hard mode for houseplants. A few fun facts:

Most “dying” plants I see aren’t underwatered… they’re overwatered. Root rot is the silent killer.

A lot of plants droop or pale weeks before they actually start dying – that’s their early SOS signal.

Studies show having healthy plants around can lower stress and boost focus (so yes, your fiddle leaf can technically be “therapy” 😄).

That’s why I started CO Green Works! I rehab sad, crispy, half-dead plants and turn them back into the leafy flex pieces they were meant to be. Houseplants, office jungle, lobby plants… if it’s green and struggling, I’m here for it.

If you have a plant that’s on life support, drop a pic in the comments or send me a DM with:
1️⃣ How often you water
2️⃣ Where it sits (window, distance, direction)
3️⃣ How long you’ve had it

I’ll give you a quick “plant diagnosis,” and if it needs a full rehab and you're local, we can schedule a visit. If you're not in CO we can schedule a we**am visit, just ask!

Let’s flood this post with before-they-die plant pics so we can save some green lives today. 🌱💚
