Good construction starts with what you don’t see.
Pouring structural footers for the new deck area at Saluda Shoals Park, while progress continues on the restroom facility. Every detail matters—from placement to consolidation—for a solid foundation.

Strong communities are built through relationships—and we were honored to be part of the Chase Loveless Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament hosted by the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission. Proud to sponsor a hole alongside our sons (and team members), and extra proud of Garrett for winning Closest to the Pin! ⛳️

Big things are starting to take shape out at Saluda Shoals Park.

This restroom facility marks the beginning of a project designed to serve something bigger than just a structure—it’s about creating a space where community gathers, families connect, and memories are made.

We’re honored to be part of building something that will be used and enjoyed for years to come.

More progress to come as this space comes to life.

Groundbreaking day The Meeting Place Church of Greater Columbia🪏

This new pavilion and pocket park will be more than just a structure—it’s being built as a place for connection, fellowship, and community.

From families gathering to food trucks rolling in, this space is already bringing people together—and construction has just begun.

We’re grateful to play a role in helping bring this vision to life and can’t wait to see it filled with people.

On International Women’s Day, we’re proud to recognize our leader, Michelle James. It seems fitting that this podcast dropped today, giving her the opportunity to share her wisdom with the construction world.

New Episode 192 Season 4 “Vision Builds Reality” 🎤 Michelle James 🎤 Owner of Grace Construction Group

Sometimes the path to construction isn’t straight, and that’s exactly what makes the story powerful.

Christi Powell and Angela Gardner hang out with Michelle, who last week was the WIC Week Coordinator for Columbia NAWIC Chapter #113 in South Carolina. Michelle made a bold pivot into construction at 47, after careers in the nonprofit and legal worlds, including serving as a municipal judge.

And she didn’t just join the industry… she’s doing her part in making it better in her family business.

Few powerful takeaways:
💥 It’s never too late to pivot into construction.
💥 Your past experience (even legal!) can be a huge asset in contracts, liability, and business operations.
💥 “The cost of silence” is real...asking questions prevents costly misunderstandings on projects.
💥 Strong teams are built through communication, documentation, and accountability.
💥 Construction can also be a platform for community impact, through partnerships like HomeWorks.

Michelle’s story is a reminder that vision truly does build reality, especially when you bring courage, curiosity, and purpose into the work.

Women belong in every part of construction—from the jobsite to the boardroom.

This week we celebrate Women in Construction Week, and I’m grateful to be part of an industry that continues to grow stronger through the leadership, skill, and determination of women across every role.

Last night I had the privilege of moderating a panel of incredible women in the construction industry as part of a NAWIC WIC Week event. Hearing their stories—how they entered the industry, the challenges they’ve navigated, and the impact they’re making—was inspiring and encouraging.

As the owner of Grace Construction Group, a family construction business I lead alongside my husband, I’m especially grateful to see more women stepping into leadership roles across our industry.

I’m also honored to serve on the NAWIC Board of Directors and the WIC Week committee, helping create opportunities for connection, mentorship, and growth within our construction community.

Thank you to the amazing panelists who shared their experiences and to everyone who came out to support the event. The future of construction is strong.

For the women in our industry — what advice would you give another woman considering a career in construction?

There’s nothing flashy about pulling up old flooring.

And there’s nothing glamorous about installing new flooring either.

But in construction, this is a big moment.

We’re renovating the second and third floors of the South Carolina Archives & History Building — and when new floors start going down, it means the vision is becoming reality.

Behind every finished space is demolition dust, coordination, scheduling, problem-solving, and a whole lot of teamwork.

Grateful for a crew that takes pride in the details — even the “boring” ones. Because those details are what bring a project across the finish line.

This cornerstone now bears more than stone and names—it carries legacy, faith, and lives yet to be transformed.

Renovating the sanctuary of Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 was an honor we approached with deep respect and responsibility. Projects rooted in faith remind us that construction isn’t just about buildings—it’s about creating sacred spaces where hope is restored, community is strengthened, and generations are impacted.

We are humbled to now stand as a small part of this church’s living history.

🎄 Merry Christmas from the dream team at Grace Construction Group, Inc.
Faith-driven. Family-owned. Grateful beyond measure.

As we wrapped up the final punch list on this sanctuary renovation, a mockingbird made its way inside the space and quickly became an unexpected last item to resolve.

Our team addressed it promptly and continued moving the project toward a successful turnover.
