Shingletex is one of the few companies in the Southeast that helps turn roofing shingles into a recyclable product that can be used for a number of purposes. We assist roofers and contractors alike to find environmentally conscience means to dispose of their waste material. The processes begins by collecting the roofing shingles from a new roofing project. Normally, the roofing shingles are torn o
ff of a home, put in a dumpster, then taken to a landfill, where they will sit for eternity! This is the industry norm. Instead of letting roofing material fill up our landfills, Shingletex collects the roofing material when a project is underway. The roofing shingles are thrown into a dumpster which is provided by Dumpster Rental Atlanta Company Haul Masters. Once the project is complete and all of the roofing material is collected, the dumpster is taken to the sorting facility in Conley, GA. The material inside of the dumpster is then sorted, where roofing material is separated from other recycleable materials such as paper, metal etc. Once the roofing shingles are separated and have been hand-picked free of any paper or trash, they are ready to be transported once again. The roofing shingles are now hauled to a grinding facility where they will grinded into a material that can be used in what is called a "hot mix" for asphalt paving. The material has a consistency which is similar to sand when the sorting and grinding process is complete. Although it's use in asphalt paving is the most common, the material has been used for other purposes such as decorative landscaping material (much like colored mulches). We are committed to helping roofers and contractors find environmentally conscience means to dispose of their waste. It is quite obvious that landfills are not the solution! Eventually, every single landfill will have no more room to put any more waste. Shingletex and the companies on this website are committed to a sustainable future with a goal of zero-waste.
