Piling mulch high against the trunk may look tidy, but it can actually do more harm than good.

When mulch is stacked against the bark, it can trap excess moisture, encourage insects, and lead to root and trunk problems over time.

A better approach:
✅ Keep mulch about 2–3 inches deep
✅ Pull it back from the trunk
✅ Leave the root flare visible

Proper mulching helps protect your trees and supports healthy growth for years to come.
