As a physician, I've heard every version of:
"Yes, I've been taking it every day."

And as an HVAC owner, apparently the equivalent is:
"Yes, I've been changing my filter regularly."

This homeowner was absolutely convinced he was staying on top of it.
Then Sampson pulled out the filter on top.
Case closed. 😂

But here's the thing: I don't actually think people are lying.

I think life is busy.
You mean to do it.
You fully intend to do it.
Then three months becomes six months, six months becomes a year, and suddenly your filter looks like it's been collecting dust since the dinosaurs.

That's why we focus so much on reminders, maintenance, and making homeownership easier.
Because your HVAC system should not require the same mental energy as remembering spirit week, dentist appointments, and what's for dinner.

Sometimes I look at photos like this and laugh because people see a heating and air company.

What I see is two people who decided to build something together.

A few years ago, I was practicing medicine. Adé was building his HVAC career after ten years in the Air Force.

Today, we're building The General Heating & Air one customer, one conversation, and one relationship at a time.

And the truth is, most of our growth hasn't come from advertising.

It's come from people introducing us to people.

A neighbor mentioning our name.

A friend making a connection.

A Chamber member saying, "You should call Adé and Dr. Toya."

We never take that for granted.

So we recently launched a referral program as a small way to say thank you to the people helping us grow.

Bet you've never heard of an HVAC company run by an OBGYN. So let me explain!

I'm Dr. Toya: board-certified OBGYN, burnout survivor, founder of Dr. Toya OBGYN (a patient education platform that reached millions of women), coach for physician moms navigating medicine and motherhood, host of the Stethoscopes and Strollers podcast, and co-founder of The General Heating & Air with my husband Adé.

That last one is the one that gets the head tilt.

Meet Adé Sampson.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿. Adé is the licensed HVAC contractor of record and one half of the "us" behind The General Heating & Air. When you book a job with us, the buck stops at him. His name and his license are on every system we touch in your home.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻. Ten years U.S. Air Force as an AGE technician, keeping generators, HVAC and other environmental control equipment running on the flight line. The mechanic the flight line depended on. That standard of *"if you do it, you do it right the first time"* came home with him.

We drove past one of these in a hospital parking lot on I-10 and Adé got excited: “That’s my equipment!”

What you’re looking at is a ground cooling unit pushing conditioned air directly into a helicopter through those yellow flex ducts.

That’s how you keep a bird cool on the ground before takeoff, and keep the crew and equipment from cooking in the Houston heat.

Adé spent 10 years in the U.S. Air Force doing exactly this but on massive planes.
