Sometimes a tree can look like it’s still doing okay—but there may be more going on beneath the surface. This is a good example of why a tree assessment can be so important.
In the first photo: The tree is still producing leaves, but noticeably fewer than a healthy tree should. Reduced, discolored, or sparse leaf growth can be a sign that a tree is under stress.
In the second and third photos: After the main trunk broke during a storm, the inside of the tree revealed significant decay.
A tree doesn’t have to be completely dead to be a safety concern. Internal decay, structural weaknesses, storm damage, and declining health may not always be obvious from the outside.
If you notice sparse leaves, dead or broken branches, cracks, cavities, leaning, or other changes in your tree, it may be time to have it assessed.
