Hail season seems to be ramping up. For those of you with older roofs, double check your insurance policy to make sure there isn't anything which could potentially cost you. I just came upon a policy paying ACV only on roofs 15 years or older. The roof was heavily depreciated and the dollar amount my homeowner could loose out on is nauseating.

I can not say enough good things about GAF. A roof we installed in 2012 was defective. With the GAF System Plus Warranty, GAF covered the full replacement of the roof. Without the enhanced warranty, the homeowner would have been out at least $11,000.

As we enter the monsoon season in Texas, here is one thing you can do to help avoid leaks. Make sure the caulk on your windows is in good shape. Missing or broken caulk on your windows makes an easy entry for water. You might not notice it on a first floor window, but we get lots of leak calls from second floor windows every year. It's all important, but the caulk sealing your window to the ledge does wonders keeping water out.
