Good afternoon!! Well we are hearing much today about possibility of some rough winter weather in North/Central Texas, for Friday evening through Sunday/Monday morning. We are praying that it does not happen but just in case wanted to give a couple of reminders.
All outside hydrants need water hoses disconnected, wrap (just use an old washcloth) and cover with styrofoam type covers. Do not drip outside faucets!
For inside your homes any faucets that are on an outside wall need to have a small stream of both hot and cold water. If the temperatures get as low as the weather men are predicting dripping will not be sufficient to keep pipes from freezing. Both hot and cold water lines can freeze in the temperatures that are predicted . Open cabinets where possible to allow warm air circulating to help to keep the pipes from freezing.
If you have a pier & beam home, you may have foundation vents and you will need to put on your foundation vent covers. Slab foundation homes do not have foundation vents.
Please familiarize yourself with how to cut off water to your home in case of an emergency.
We know there are no guarantees when it comes to frozen pipes but doing all the above at least will help and you will know you did all you could, and prayer never hurts. Blessings to all of you and if you have any questions please call.
