The rain is finally here... and so are the bugs. ๐ฆ๐
After a long, hot, dry stretch in North Texas, all this rain is a welcome sight. Unfortunately, it can also mean a noticeable jump in pest activity.
Over the next several days, donโt be surprised if you start seeing more:
๐ฆ Mosquitoes - Standing water left behind by the rain gives them plenty of places to breed.
๐ Fire ants - Fresh mounds often become much more noticeable after a good soaking as colonies become active and rebuild.
๐ Other ants - Saturated ground can send them looking for higher, drier places, including around and inside your home.
๐ชณ Roaches - Heavy rain can drive them out of their usual outdoor hiding places.
๐ท๏ธ Spiders - More bugs moving around means more food for spiders.
And with cooler weather not far behind, mice, rats, squirrels, raccoons and opossums will also start looking for warm, protected places to settle in.
After months of dry weather, this is exactly the kind of weather change that gets pests moving.
