Progress on the Riviera Chapel is coming along nicely!
As you can see the front porte cochere of the forum building almost perfect frames the view of the chapel.
recently planted as well is this beautiful oak tree , which looks to provide the perfect shade during the sunny summers of Riviera, TX!
going inside the chapel , you can see the cloud lights getting installed and turned on! the lighting from the cloud really shows off the beauty of the natural wood inside the chapel and is still soft enough to maintain intimacy for a wedding!
all in all so exciting to see this chapel come back with new life! so grateful to Beecroft construction for really putting the care and time in this project!

The Erma Center grand opening was truly a night to remember! Even the weather was perfect. 😊 so many amazing people came together in this wonderful community of Riviera, TX to celebrate the beautifully done achievement of the Erma Center!
This facility was envisioned and designed as a gathering place for the community of Rivera, TX. The Erma Center hosts school and local events such as memorial services, quinceañeras, reunions, and weddings, as well serving as a leasable venue for visiting events!
with 11,000 square foot of interior space and an added 7,000 square foot of covered outdoor space, large-scale catering kitchen, plus the added luxury of the adjacent Burning Daylight bar, the Erma Center is design to host any event and/or moment.

fresch Architects was thrilled to be part of the team for the 31,000 square foot renovation of the Kekelaokalani Building at Kamehameha Elementary School’s Kapālama Campus. The outcome is a state-of-the-art Learning Center with flexible teaching spaces, collaboration areas, an innovation lab, a maker space, a media center, and supporting offices and conference areas.
Lead architect Ferraro Choi And Associates ( ) focused the design around a strong connection to Native Hawaiian culture and identity, drawing inspiration from the traditional Hawaiian technological innovation of the loko i‘a (traditional Hawaiian fish pond) and the murmuring waters of Pu‘uhale (local land area).
The third floor of the Learning Center features a gathering place within the loko i‘a and is designed with flexibility in mind. Connections between the third-floor of the Learning Center and the second-floor support spaces is represented by the mākāhā (gates) that connect the ocean to the fishponds. The design includes indoor grass mounds, playful reading nooks, movable storage, writable surfaces, and flexible furniture to support diverse learning environments for both teachers and students.
fresch Architects served as design support to Ferraro Choi and Associates and production architect throughout Design Development and Construction Document phases.

So excited to share progress on The Erma Chapel and Forum project, which consists of the historic restoration of the early 20th century Riviera United Methodist Church, associated site work and landscaping, and the construction of the new adjacent Forum building that will serve as support and ancillary space for the one-room Chapel.
The Forum references the historic Chapel building in roof slope, exterior proportion, and exterior siding material, but expresses the siding in another form with mitered corners, a flared base over a board-formed concrete stem wall. Currently unpainted – the Forum exterior will really come to life once it is painted white to match the Chapel!
The Chapel exterior incorporates ¾” thick cementitious siding replacing the original like wood siding that was damaged beyond repair and composite ‘shake’ roofing.
The original 1x10 longleaf pine lap siding at the interior was restored and treated with an oil and wax finish. All the original stained-glass windows have been refurbished and will be reinstalled inboard of the impact resistant clear picture windows that are currently in place. The original Oak pews and the original piano have also been restored and are ready to be reinstalled once the construction work is complete. Defiantly will post more as progress continues!

The new office building for the Riviera Telephone Company, Inc. is a holistic design response to a previously developed site housing several mature oak trees, the demanding program requirements of the owner, and the need for resiliency and efficiency in construction along the Texas coast. The floor plan is heavily informed by locations of existing trees and access to daylighting. A suspended slab foundation system ensures structural integrity while keeping building loads off the root structures of the site’s large trees. Design features include:
Working within the footprint of the site’s mature existing oak trees.
Design for access to quality daylighting.
A suspended slab foundation to keep building loads off the mature tree root structures.
Design for stringent security protocols.
Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) exterior walls and hollow core concrete plank floor and roof decking for resilience, durability, and energy efficiency.
Design cues are taken from historic Riviera Telephone Company imagery:
Drooping lines between telephone poles inspire the open office ceiling cloud.
Reception area décor is a direct metaphor to glass insulated telephone pole cross arms.
The original vintage oak switchboard displayed in the lobby inspires the exterior brick patterns and motifs at both the building and the generator enclosure.
