In the last legislative session the law makers in Austin have voted to abolish the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners ( Est. 1947). As of Sept. 1, 2019 The Texas State Board Of Plumbing will cease to exist. That means my license as a Master Plumber, that I have over 35 years of my life invested in, will mean nothing. Not only will the board cease to exist, there will be no one governing the occupation of ethical and responsible plumbing practices ( license exams, codes, license renewals, continuing educating, verifying insurance coverage, consumer complaints.... and the list goes on). This is being done to address the shortage of licensed plumbers in the State of Texas. You will no longer be required to be vetted by the State before you can become a plumber. Someone with absolutely no plumbing experience can now open a plumbing company. They can come into your home or business (hospitals and schools included ) and charge you money to repair or install your gas, water and sewer systems with no requirement to carry a license or a certificate of liability insurance. There will be no requirements to have the work permitted or inspected by city officials. Meaning if something does go wrong (and it will) the damage caused by faulty plumbing will fall to your insurance policy. I am telling you this because you are my friends and customers. I want you to aware of what is happening. As a company I will continue to abide by the Board rules and regulations. It is the best I can do to insure the health and safety of all my customers. After Sept 1, 2019, if you hire a plumber to come into your home or business in the State of Texas, DO YOUR RESEARCH on who you are hiring. Below is a link to the Boards abolishment statement
