🌱🚜 Lawn Care 101: Overgrown Yards 🚜🌱
We wanted to share a little lawn care knowledge that many homeowners may not know!
When a lawn becomes overgrown, the top portion of the grass receives all the sunlight, which is what gives it that beautiful green color. The lower portion of the grass is often shaded and may be yellow, tan, or brown underneath.
When the lawn is finally mowed back to a normal height, those lower portions become visible. This can make it appear as though the yard has suddenly developed brown patches.
🌱 This does NOT mean the lawn was killed.
🌱 This does NOT automatically mean it was cut too low.
🌱 This is often a normal result of cutting back excessive growth.
Another thing to keep in mind is the 1/3 Rule. Lawn professionals recommend removing no more than one-third of the grass blade at a time. When a lawn becomes significantly overgrown, that's not always possible in a single service.
Overgrown lawns may also produce excessive grass clippings, require multiple passes, and can take several regular maintenance visits before returning to their healthiest appearance.
The best way to keep your lawn looking green, healthy, and beautiful is consistent mowing and proper watering. A lawn that has been allowed to grow excessively won't always look like a perfectly maintained lawn after one cut—and that's completely normal.
At Warner's Lawn Care, we always strive to provide quality service and educate our customers on what to expect when dealing with overgrown properties.
Healthy lawns are built through consistency, not one mow. 🌱💪
