🔌 We recently replaced an outdated 200-amp FPE panel with a new Siemens load center. As part of the upgrade, we also installed a 200-amp exterior disconnect equipped with eight breaker spaces. This setup is ideal for future additions, such as hot tubs, exterior outlets, sheds, or EV chargers, because it provides breaker capacity outside without requiring drilling through the home to reach the main panel.

🔌 In addition to the panel replacement, we updated the entire grounding system to meet the requirements for a 200-amp service, bonded the service mast pipe, and installed whole-home surge protection. The meter and mast pipe did not need to be replaced, as they were properly sized and undamaged. Had the customer requested them to be replaced, we certainly would have.

🔌 It’s important to understand that these steps, including the exterior disconnect, updated grounding, service bonding, and surge protection, are not optional. They are required for code compliance and safety. If a buddy claims they can “just swap the panel” without performing the proper upgrades or obtaining a county inspection, the person ultimately at risk is YOU. Electrical codes exist to protect your home, your family, and yourself.

This customer had us into to diagnose why her breakers are tripping. The culprit? Inadequate amount of circuits in the home. Kitchen outlets tied to living room outlets and lights and bedrooms all tied to each other. We decided the best course of action was to add additional circuits to the home to split up what was existing. This customer can rest easy knowing her circuit overloading issues and heightened risk of fire are over.
