Older homes have character, but they also come with surprises hidden behind every wall.

Over the years, building codes, materials, and construction practices have evolved dramatically. What may have been standard when a home was built can now be outdated or inefficient. That's where experience and modern technology make all the difference.

In this bathroom and laundry remodel, we were able to bring an older space up to today's standards while creating a more functional and beautiful environment for the homeowners. It's always exciting to find creative solutions that respect the home's history while delivering the comfort and convenience people expect today.

Check out the transformation!

What went wrong here?

This tile floor was installed directly over laminate flooring. The movement and lack of a proper tile substrate eventually led to failure in the installation.

A successful tile project starts long before the first tile is set. Proper prep, underlayment, and a solid foundation make all the difference.

Thin set (the glue that holds tile down) isn't designed to adhere to surfaces like laminate flooring, which made this one of my easiest tile demos ever.

We're removing it all and starting fresh with the right materials and methods so the new floor will last for years to come.

One of my customers recently had their old galvanized waterlines replaced with PEX. After the upgrade, their bathroom sink gradually slowed and eventually stopped getting hot water. Anytime you replace galvanized piping, it’s common for sediment to break loose inside the system, especially from older lines.
I advised them to remove the supply line at the shutoff valve and check for blockage. Sure enough, the hot‑water supply line was completely clogged with sediment that had flushed out during the replacement. Once a new line was installed, the hot water flowed normally again.
If you’ve had galvanized lines replaced and notice low pressure or no flow at a fixture, it’s often something simple like a clogged supply line, shutoff valve or faucet filter. A quick check can save you a lot of frustration.

A small cabinet transformation this week, new door, drawers and face frame. The customer asked if I could use corrugated metal on the doors to match the towel holder. After a fair bit of digging I was able to find some panels that worked perfectly in a shaker style door. The customer was happy and I thought they turned out really cool. I might have to make some more for my own bathroom.

In the wake of the recent fires many homes in our area are dealing with water damage from the fire fighting efforts, soaked insulation, wet drywall, and rising humidity that can turn into mold if it sits too long.
If your home was impacted, I’m offering free moisture checks and damage assessments for anyone in the affected neighborhoods. No pressure, no sales pitch just honest guidance on what needs attention and what’s still safe.
We’re all trying to rebuild together. If you need help or just have questions, send me a text or call 509-939-2295.

These kitchen cabinets were still in good condition — but the customer wanted a fresh look and a budget friendly update. We built brand‑new cabinet doors to update style and avoid wood grain lines and paired them with a clean, modern paint finish and the difference speaks for itself. What used to feel dark and dated now looks bright, open and completely refreshed. It’s amazing how much life comes back into a home when you combine new doors with a professional repaint — no full remodel required. If your kitchen is ready for a transformation without the demolition or the price tag, I’d love to help you make it happen.

Sometimes replacing a toilet is a simple task. Often when removing a toilet hidden problems emerge: improperly installed fl**ge or wax ring. These can lead to water damage in the sub-floor and in the case pictured the toilet fl**ge had completely rusted away. These things don’t happen over night, in this situation the toilet was installed in the late 90’s and had not been moved since. This can cause a small $250 toilet install to grow rapidly into replacing plumbing, sub-floors, and flooring. I often recommend customers keep extra flooring around when remodeling there homes for cases such as this.

If you have a toilet that rocks, smells or notice soft floors around it, its probably worth getting checked out before the problem gets any worse.

Here is another full bathroom transformation. Originally, there was some unusable space in this client's bathroom. We decided to make use of it by custom building extra large pull out drawers. This shower was not in working order and so I repaired that along with putting in some beautiful tile.
