Built in 1770, our home is the heart of a flourishing farm, raising animals, growing crops, and embracing farm-to-table tradition. Our farm is home to pigs, turkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea fowl, and pigeons, with hopes of adding more animals in the future. We take pride in offering farm-fresh chicken and duck eggs, homegrown produce, and a taste

of the simple life. Follow along as we cultivate the land, care for our animals, and build our dream one day at a time!

The forbidden Cheerio made its appearance today.

Today was our first time banding, let alone castrating, here at the farm. These two little guys were absolute champs about it, all things considered. They may not have been thrilled with us, but they handled it really well.

At this point in the year, we’re starting to think more about winter and what we want to have on hand at different times of the year, as well as what we want our little farm to look like going forward. We love these two boys and decided that making them wethers was the right choice for us.

So… they’re still just as adorable, just minus two little beans.

Things that require zero help from Emus😆
It’s been a busy summer here at the farm, between the animals, summer harvest, life outside of the farm, and all the many things that fill our days.

We’ve done all kinds of canning and preserving-I’m pretty sure we have enough bone broth to last us many, many months-along with large batches of tomato sauce and freezers (let’s not talk about how many we have) stocked full of all kinds of meat.

There have been projects around the property, plenty of time enjoying life within the walls of our home and just as much outside of them. And don’t worry, we always make room for some downtime, too.

It’s been a full and busy summer, but the kind of busy we’re grateful for❤️

And now, somehow, fall and fair season are just around the corner!

Meet our six Nigerian Dwarf goats! They’ve been here for just under a week, and we’re already making great progress as they get comfortable with us and their new home.

One little lady, Tan-Tan, has wasted no time declaring herself the boss of the group—and honestly, we love that for her.

Just when we thought our farm family was complete after bringing home the emus, we decided to add Nigerian Dwarfs to the menagerie. Somehow, each new addition makes Buttonwood Acres feel even more whole.

We’re looking forward to getting to know all of their personalities and sharing their adventures with you along the way. Welcome home, goats!
