Prepping garden beds for dahlias starts long before the first tuber goes in 🌸

Dahlias are heavy feeders, but they do best in rich, well-draining soil with steady nutrition. Before planting, I like to build the bed with amendments that support both the plants and the soil biology:

🌱 Compost adds organic matter, improves soil structure, and helps with moisture retention.

🪱 Worm castings bring beneficial microbes and gentle, plant-available nutrients.

🦙 Alpaca beans add slow-release fertility without being too “hot”.

🦴 Bone meal supports strong root development and tuber growth with phosphorus.

🍯 Molasses feeds soil microbes, helping wake up the biology in the bed.

The goal is not just to “fertilize” the dahlias, but to create living soil that can support strong stems, lush growth, and beautiful blooms all season long.

A little reminder: more amendments are not always better. Mix well, avoid fresh manure, and consider a soil test so you know what your garden actually needs.

Option 2: Mystery / Grower’s Choice Bags: Perfect for anyone who loves a surprise or wants to fill their garden for less. These will be seller’s choice and may include a mix of varieties/colors.

All clearance tubers are sold as-is, are inspected before sale, and viable at time of sale. Quantities are limited, and orders will be filled in the order they are received. Mystery and grower’s choice bags are selected by Pinepetal, so no custom variety requests for those options. No refunds on clearance items.
