🧱 Chicago Brick Restoration — The Right Way

Mortaring the joints is one of the most important parts of a proper Chicago brick restoration.

For this project, we’re using a wet-mortar application, working the mortar directly into the joints for a solid, properly filled finish. It takes more time and craftsmanship than the common dry-sweep method, but when we’re restoring authentic Chicago brick, we believe it’s worth doing it right.

A proper pool deck repair starts underneath the stone. 🔨

For this travertine pool edge, we carefully removed the affected pieces, rebuilt and leveled the setting base, then reset the original stone to restore a clean, even finish around the pool.

Standing water is usually a symptom — not the real problem. 💧

On this pool deck, a clogged drain allowed water to collect beneath the travertine. Over time, that water washed away portions of the base material, leaving sections unsupported and causing the pavers to sink and become uneven.

The repair means more than simply resetting the stone: clear the drainage issue, rebuild the failed base, and reinstall the pavers at the proper elevation so the problem doesn’t keep coming back.
