Looking for info on native plants? Swing by your local library and check out their selections. Are there books you think they should have but do not? Ask the librarians if you can buy it for them! Native plants are about ecology which is just another way of saying community. Libraries are key to community. Thank you Franklin Library for starting down the path of native landscaping and "bringing nature home". The tree in the picture is a Serviceberry- Amelanchier.

Sometimes as a native landscaper you get to do things to help nature without planting a single species. Pictured here is the remnants of a small silt dam built as part of a pond that was created with a larger dam that had been removed earlier. This silt dam was causing the creek to erode the bank by restricting the flow to one side. Not Glen Canyon, but you have to start somewhere!

Save the date!
April 15th, 6:30pm. Johnson Nature Center, 3325 Franklin Rd, Bloomfield Township, MI 48302.
I will discussing how to establish a native landscape. If the native plant movement is to continue to move forward we need more folks getting their hands dirty and doing the work. That starts with understanding why and how. It will be amazing if we can get some kids in high school and college to attend. We really need to plant this seed in the minds of the next generations.

The host of the event is North Oakland County Wild Ones, so please contact them if you wish to attend. https://northoakland.wildones.org/

Their spring native plant sale will be coming up: https://northoakland.wildones.org/events/?wo_event_id=12312
