From past ventures on the road to where I am today! I spent alot of time on big industrial facilities as an electrician. The complexity of these projects is what truly makes an electrician. I miss working on these 4160v and 480v systems. Along with all the control wiring and communications that are involved. There is something cool about putting these massive facilities together and watching them and come to life! Starting with millions of pounds of materials and print and spec books as thick as the Bible!

Made it out to do the electrical trim out on a project the past couple days. I really like the Feit flat panel lights and the King cove heaters have a clean finished look. Feels good to put my final touches on this project! Plus it will give Kerry a lot of power and lighting for finishing up on the carpentry side!

Went on a service call to replace a flame sensor I had ordered today. When restarting the furnace it kept showing a ventilation code. After testing pressure sensors I traced the intake and exhaust lines. The pipe on the left is the furnace air intake, the pipe on the right is furnace air exhaust. The intake was drawing in moist exhaust air and froze over. The furnace could not get air. For installers… these are to close together. They should either be separated of faced in opposite directions. Not only can it lead to this issue but can also pull carbon monoxide back into your home.

The short cool days of winter have us indoors more than we are used to. Our use of artificial lighting increases drastically! Brightening your home can increase mood, reduce eye stain, make that paper easier to read or improve the appearance of the art work on your wall, and possibly save money with effiecent light sources like LED’s. A majority of my winter calls are for lighting overhauls and added lighting. I really enjoy these projects. They are quick, cost efficient, and immediately change the appearance and atmosphere of someone home. We just finished the lighting portion of this project. I finally remembered to take a few before pictures… but only one after…. I’ll try to get some more when i head back that way to finish other parts of this project. The added lighting in this future art studio room will make a huge difference. The house was also constructed when living room lights were a switched outlet for your favorite lamp. Adding overhead lighting to the living room made a huge difference. We added disc lights all around. Updated outlets, switches, covers as well as inspected the general condition of the homes electrical system. We got some outlets working that weren’t during some troubleshooting time, and are down to figuring out one mystery switch… Waiting on vanity lighting and bathroom heater/fan/lighting combos so we can wrap it up! We have a few more similar jobs to knock out, along with completing new construction, remodel, and other service call projects on the list.

Updating light fixtures alone can completely transform the look of your whole house! Whether it’s us, another local electrical contractor, or DIY!
