Why would you choose a Paver Driveway and not an Asphalt Driveway?
🧱 Reasons to Choose Pavers
1. Curb Appeal & Aesthetics
Pavers look more premium and can dramatically improve your home’s appearance and resale value.
They come in many colors, shapes, and patterns — you can match the house’s style or landscape design.
Asphalt is always black (until it fades to gray) and looks more utilitarian.
2. Longevity & Durability
A well-installed paver driveway can last 30–50 years or more.
Asphalt typically lasts 15–25 years before resurfacing or replacement.
Pavers are individual units, so if one cracks, you can just replace that piece — not the whole surface.
3. Maintenance
Pavers are low maintenance long-term — occasional re-sanding and sealing.
Asphalt needs regular sealing (every 3–5 years) to maintain appearance and prevent cracks.
4. Drainage
Pavers can be installed as permeable (water drains through gaps), reducing runoff and puddling.
Asphalt is impermeable, so water has to run off — which can lead to pooling, erosion, or ice buildup in cold climates.
5. Temperature & Comfort
Pavers don’t get as soft or sticky in extreme heat.
Asphalt can get very hot, smell like tar, and soften in high temperatures.
6. Repairs
If something goes wrong (oil stain, cracked section, etc.), you can fix only the damaged area with pavers.
With asphalt, repairs tend to be patchy and noticeable.
