Had a tough few days but kept telling myself: “everything is figure-out-able”.

Anyone else rage clean/organize when they need to think and solve a problem and also be productive at the same time?

At home when I rage clean my hubby tends to very carefully ask, “is everything ok”? 🤣🫣🧘‍♀️

The project features radiant heated floors run across the entire finished lower level — including the flex room. In Minnesota, that's not a luxury, it's a love language. Warm underfoot, all winter long.

Radiant floors heat the whole room, not just the floor, so your HVAC coasts. Easier on the environment and your utility bills.

Three bids to poke holes in the same dirt 🕳️

$3,755. $6,200. $8,000.

All over the place, right? I didn't take the low bid just because it was low. Good reviews, and they could actually get out here in my window.

But a soil boring is a soil boring. Same hole, same report. This build is going to cost more than I hoped (it always does), so I save where saving costs me nothing.

Chowen Park is a teardown neighborhood. When an older house lists, developers move on it. You act fast or you don't get the lot.

I paid $600,000. Fourteen days later, the lot behind mine listed at $550,000. It sold for $527,550. That's $72,450 less than I paid, for a comparable lot, two weeks apart.

I'd move that fast again. In this market, waiting can mean no lot. But it does mean committing before you know what the next two weeks will show you. It is what it is.

Selling it right away would have just meant I paid a bunch of closing costs for nothing, and even more closing costs on the sale. So, onward.

First episode of The Real Deal on Drew. Every week, one real number from this build. Budgets, bids, actual costs. Wins, regrets.

What number do you want to see?

New series. THE REAL DEAL ON DREW.

Every episode, one detail I'd normally keep to myself. It’s about to get real up in here. 😳

Drops Monday. What do you want to know? Ask me something I'd be nervous to answer.

Lots of steps for a garage slab pour when you have a floor drain and radiant in-floor heat. But when that garage is heated and the snow melts right off the car into the drain it will be so worth it!

Guess what's missing in the home? A jack and jill bath. Every bedroom has it own bath.
