For spraying Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Exterior Satin on metal windows, proper surface preparation is essential for long-lasting adhesion and corrosion resistance.
Clean the metal thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, oil, and oxidation using an appropriate cleaner, then rinse and dry. Scuff or abrade any glossy or corroded areas with sandpaper or a wire brush. Apply a quality corrosion-resistant primer (such as ProBlock or an all-surface enamel primer for bare steel) and allow it to dry fully.
Use an airless sprayer with appropriate tip size and pressure for even coverage, maintaining a consistent 8-12 inch distance at a 90° angle while keeping material, surface, and air temperatures above 50°F (ideally) for large metal areas. Apply two thin, even coats with adequate dry/recoat time between them for optimal durability, color retention, and a smooth satin finish that resists fading and peeling.
This approach delivers a professional, weather-resistant result suitable for commercial applications. Always consult the latest product data sheet for specific recoat times and conditions.
