Why We Choose Cedar Over Green-Treated Pickets!
We believe the materials behind a fence are just as important as the craftsmanship. That’s why you’ll never see us installing green pressure treated pickets!
Here’s why:
1️⃣ Cedar is naturally durable. It contains natural oils that help resist rot, decay, and insects without being saturated with preservatives.
2️⃣ It looks better from day one! Cedar has rich color, beautiful grain, and doesn’t have the green tint that pressure-treated pickets often start with.
3️⃣ It stays more stable. As green treated pickets dry, they’re more likely to shrink, twist, cup, and warp. Cedar is generally more dimensionally stable, helping your fence maintain a cleaner, straighter appearance!
4️⃣ It accepts stain beautifully! If you choose to stain your fence, cedar provides a more consistent, attractive finish.
Pressure treated lumber does have its place, we use it where it’s appropriate, such as structural components when needed. But for the pickets you see every day, we believe cedar provides the best combination of beauty, durability, and long term value!
Could we save money by using green-treated pickets? Yes.
Do we think it’s the right choice for our customers? No.
We’d rather build a fence that’s made to look great for years than cut corners to lower the upfront cost. That’s a standard we’re committed to on every project!
