And as in life, its current state of being is only possible because of the journey that has led to that place in time. The layers, the transformations, and its "final package" are all an integral part of each piece; they are all the parts that complete the whole. I tend to work in series exploring one subject matter from multiple angles and letting the ideas flow and evolve from one painting to th
e next. Once I start to lose interest in an idea or subject matter, or when I feel like I have explored all that I can, I begin a new body of work. This is a very organic process which allows me to maintain a fresh approach to my work. My intention with my paintings is to move others, as I am moved when I am inspired to paint. And I see my painting as a vehicle through which I, the artist, can connect with the viewer. My process is a combination of adding and subtracting, revealing and concealing. With my Colorscapes Series, in particular, I got inspiration from the landscape, however I was not trying to depict a specific scene or place. I wanted to engage the viewer by getting him to draw from his own experiences and memories in order to come up with an interpretation of each piece. I am inspired by the light and atmospheric conditions of the landscape and it is this emotional response to my environment that inspires me to paint. It is my hope that my paintings may evoke a similar emotional response in the viewer. To me, the viewer's role is very important as it adds life and new meanings to my work. Without the viewer, my work would not be complete.
