Funny thing about rumors in the roofing industry… they usually start when someone can’t win the job on reputation, quality, or price.

Recently we’ve heard that someone has been telling people East Penn Roofing is “going out of business.”

That’s interesting to hear while our crews are out installing roofs across the area and our schedule is still full.

Diane Hendricks is one of the clearest examples of how discipline, patience, and relentless work
can build an empire from the ground up. In 1982 she co founded ABC Supply with her husband
Ken Hendricks, starting as a small roofing and siding distributor in Beloit, Wisconsin. The goal
was simple. Provide contractors with better service, consistent inventory, and a supplier that
understood the realities of construction work.
Hendricks led with sharp instincts and a hands on approach. While competitors expanded
slowly, she pushed for strategic acquisitions, absorbing underperforming distributors and turning
them into profitable branches. As the construction market evolved, ABC Supply scaled with it,
expanding into windows, gutters, and exterior materials. By focusing on reinvestment instead of
short term gains, Hendricks helped transform the company into the largest wholesale distributor
of roofing and siding in the United States.
After her husband passed away in 2007, she continued to run and grow the business. Today
ABC Supply operates more than 900 locations nationwide and generates tens of billions in
annual revenue. Hendricks’ personal net worth is estimated at about $12,000,000,000 in 2025.
Her rise is a reminder that wealth built on real work and long term thinking can outlast any
market cycle. She did not inherit the business. She built it piece by piece.
