‼️Long post alert/siren update🚨
Over the past few days, we’ve been truly overwhelmed by the amount of support, messages, and kindness from our neighbors, friends, and even those from surrounding towns.
Shaker Pines is more than just where we live, it’s home. This firehouse holds deep personal meaning for Brian and our family. His grandfather and father both served as firefighters out of this very building, alongside many of our lifelong neighbors who have become close friends and extended family over the years. While it is no longer an active firehouse, its history and what it represents have always been something incredibly important to preserve.
Being able to bring even a small piece of that history back to life was something we were truly proud of.
As a family who lives here, is raising our children here, and owns a local business in this town, we care deeply about preserving what makes this community so special, not just for ourselves, but for everyone.
What has stood out the most is that this goes far beyond just our neighborhood. The stories, memories, and reactions we’ve received from people of all ages have been incredibly moving. It’s clear this isn’t just about a siren, it’s about nostalgia, connection, and something that brings people together in a positive way.
We also want to recognize our truly amazing and dedicated neighbors and friends. You have gone above and beyond researching, reaching out, connecting us with others, volunteering your time, and even stepping up to share your voices. To those who have offered to help, participated in interviews, or simply showed up for us, THANK YOU. And to the many people we may not even know who have reached out offering support we are just blown away by your kindness. This is what community truly looks like, and we’re incredibly proud to be part of it.
In a world where there’s often so much going on, seeing a community, and even surrounding towns, come together with such support, positivity, and shared appreciation has been nothing short of incredible.
We also want to thank the town council members and our district representative for taking the time to listen, engage, and work toward a thoughtful path forward. We truly appreciate the effort and consideration being given to something that means so much to our community.
At the end of the day, this has always been about community, history, and preserving something meaningful, not just for us, but for everyone who calls Shaker Pines home.
Thank you,
Brian & Megan Wanczyk
