As I’m putting the finishing touches on my season, I always like to take the time to share some information on leaves.
Fallen leaves that have been chopped up produce some of the highest quality compost available. Trees draw nutrients from deep underground, so when the leaves fall they contain a complete nutrient profile that’s balanced and perfect for all your bedding plants and gardens. This has served as my primary source of fertilizer for over a decade and the results have been outstanding.
Millcreek Compost and Recycling Center accepts leaves at no charge, and they make compost cheap and available every spring.
Do not let this valuable resource go to waste at the landfill, and if you don’t want to bag them you can simply pick them up with the lawnmower and dump them wherever you mulch in the spring.
Thank You to everyone that supported this business this year. My schedule was wall to wall all spring, summer and fall and I can’t express how grateful I am. Have a great holiday season everyone! See you next spring!
