So today, I was walking back to the truck after spraying roundup. I noticed another pest control company slowly coming up the road and stopped just a few houses from where I was working. I got into the truck, started filling out the invoices and noticed he started spraying. I kid you not, by the time I got done filling out the invoices (no more then 10 minutes) he had already gone around the house, got back in the truck and was already driving off. I’ve seen way too many pest control companies do this over the years! It makes me disgusted to be honest! What a rip off! My average time at a pest control stop is 30-45 minutes and use GALLONS of insecticide. Not just a quick sq**rt around the foundation and eves. Please, please, please stop signing up with these companies, they truly do not have your best interest at heart! Instead of doing a good job, they rely on guarantees that they know very few customers will actually even use. Why not just do a great job the first time and not rely on guarantees to lure in customers so they feel better about the service you’re providing!

First week out spraying and I already know, this year is going to be a really bad bug year. It just didn’t get cold enough and stay cold long enough. I’m already seeing pests I don’t normally see till the summer months.

This evening, I received a call from a now, new customer in Pleasant Grove. She had been with a bigger, local company for several years and received her service letter from them for the year. She didn’t have any complaints about their service other than the price she had been paying for the past few years and so she wanted a quote. My quote for her lawn was $40.00 less PER application than what she was being charged. I absolutely couldn’t believe it, I know this company and can’t believe how much they’ve changed over the years. And amazed at how expensive they have gotten and for no reason really! This is why you should always shop around and get quotes. I always encourage people too. That’s one way you get to know a little about the lawn care and pest control industry. Though there are definite questions to ask about how the services are preformed, the type of chemicals used, pricing and about the training and experience level of the technicians.

Did you know, the best time to treat for weeds whether in your lawn, gravel or dirt driveways, is when they are just starting to grow? This is what all herbicide labels say and it’s true! The longer they go untreated and are able to grow and establish their roots deeper into the soil, the harder they are to kill. Once they get to a mature state and the roots are deep enough into the soil, the only thing most herbicides will do, is simply knock the plant back. This is very common with the summer weeds. For a short example is morning glory, spurge, purslane and Clover. Even though clover grows all season. And as soon as the treatments stop, you will notice it will come right back and in alot of cases, th exact same spots. Unfortunately herbicide labels and even professional lawn care companies still call this a kill. But if they were honest, would the manufacturer or lawn service industry sell their product or service? Probably not nearly as much. So they either dont know, and are just trying to sell the product/service or they do know and are just outright dishonest. The great thing about being an owner operator with many years of experience, constant training and never being afraid of trying new things, but also being observant on properties. Is you get to see how things really are. Some things may work great, others not so much and others, just a waste of time, energy and money. The thing though that i love, is that i can be flat out honest with people, i dont care if i get the job or not or people think im crazy. (i cant stand unrealistic expecations for customers) Im not out to explode in growth or hire employees or double my income. I just love this line of work, which is why i run my own business doing it. Some may think im crazy/dismiss my years of experience and education because they’ve never heard this before. So, the point of all of this is, Don’t wait to treat your weeds. Either get on a schedule with me or on a routine if you are doing it yourself. if you do it yourself and need advice, I’m always happy to share what I know!
