Interior/Exterior Remodeling Services – March–April 2025 | Hallowell, ME

This fill-in project gave us the chance to blend old-school craftsmanship with modern functionality. Using vintage tools and techniques, we carefully matched and refaced the entire front and sides of a historic schoolhouse, preserving its character while enhancing its curb appeal.

Inside, we trimmed and custom-crafted new doors to fit the unique layout—including access to hidden rooms that added charm and intrigue. Out back, we removed the aging deck and replaced it with a sturdier, frost-adaptive system featuring flip-up steps designed to shift with seasonal ground movement.

This job was a testament to our ability to honor tradition while building for the future.

Exterior Land Improvement – Deck Addition Project Summary
May 2025 Readfield/Porter

Following our initial meeting, the client expressed interest in adding a 10' x 10' deck off the master bedroom. The proposed design incorporates a combination of pressure-treated wood for structural framing and Trex Enhance Naturals decking for the flooring, with a preference for the Wharf Gray color option.

After returning to the office, we drafted the design and outlined material options. A follow-up meeting was scheduled to finalize selections and accommodate any last-minute adjustments. These included confirming the decking color and discussing optional add-ons such as a customized gate for child or pet safety.

This tailored approach ensures the final build aligns with the client’s vision while maintaining durability, aesthetic appeal, and functionality.

January 2025, Readfield Project: A kitchen renovation was completed for clients who desired improved lighting and increased functionality. The project addressed insufficient lighting and underutilized space by replacing dark countertops with lighter alternatives and modifying the kitchen island. Removal of the island overhang, which was not being used for seating, created additional usable kitchen space and incorporated a butcher block surface.

Multiple Projects - Fall 2019/Spring 2020: We began by relocating all plants to start constructing the farmer's porch. After securing the framework, we prepared to connect new and old structures. We stripped old roofing shingles, cleaned up, and hauled debris. New architectural shingles were installed to complete the building for winter. In Spring 2020, we aimed to start back up by hand-digging around the main entrance to pour the floor and add the final touches to the ceiling.

Garden/Flower Boxes - Materials supplied by Lowes and By the Board Lumber. The client requested custom garden boxes due to an inability to bend over, necessitating accessibility. The second photo may depict either a garden or a flower box; here, it serves as a replacement for a pre-existing flower bed.
