🏆 Thank you, Davis County—we’re honored to be voted #1!

We’re incredibly honored to share that Copper Canyon Electric—now JenX Electric—has been voted 1st Place in the Electrician category of the 2026 Best of Davis County Readers’ Choice Awards!

Last year, we were grateful to be recognized as a Best of Davis County winner. This year, being voted #1 makes this recognition especially meaningful.

But what means the most isn’t the number on the award—it’s what’s behind it.

Every vote represents someone who trusted us, recommended us to a neighbor, called us back for another project, left us a review, or simply took the time to support a local business. We don’t take that for granted.

For 28 years, Phillip has built his career around doing electrical work the right way—quality workmanship, honest recommendations, attention to detail, and treating people fairly. Those are the same values we’re carrying forward as Copper Canyon Electric becomes JenX Electric.

New name. Same owners. Same Master Electrician. Same commitment to quality.

To our customers, friends, neighbors and everyone who voted for us:

Thank you, Davis County. Your trust means everything. ❤️

When the whole house goes dark, this is one reason why. ⚡

A Centerville homeowner called us after losing power to the entire house and not knowing what had happened. Phillip was able to get there the same day and traced the problem to the main breaker feeding the home’s interior electrical panel.

Once the breaker was removed, the extent of the heat damage and deterioration at the connection was clear. The home was built in the late 1970s and still had its original meter panel/main-breaker equipment.

But replacing a failed breaker isn’t simply a matter of pulling out the old one and putting in a new one.

Before restoring power, Phillip inspected the panel bus and service conductor to make sure they were still suitable for use. Once that was confirmed, he cleaned and prepared the conductor connection, installed the new main breaker, restored power and tested the system.

Power back on the same day. 🙌

That solved the immediate problem—but it didn’t end the conversation. Because of the age and condition of the original equipment, Phillip strongly recommended making a meter panel/service upgrade a priority and provided pricing so the homeowner could plan for that work.

Older electrical equipment can deteriorate over time, and sometimes the first obvious warning is a failure like this. If your home has an aging panel, repeated breaker issues, unusual heat, burning odors or other electrical concerns, having it evaluated can help identify problems before they become an outage.

This is exactly why Experience Matters.

A good electrical repair isn’t just about replacing the failed part. It’s knowing what else needs to be inspected, what can safely remain in service, and what needs attention next.

This is the kind of review that means so much to us. ❤️

Glen and Ann were dealing with three outlets that weren't working in their Farmington home, including the power to their sprinkler system.

After trying to find someone who could help, they called JenX Electric. Phillip answered the phone himself and was able to stop by the following afternoon. He diagnosed and corrected the electrical problems in less than half an hour.

But our favorite part of their review?

“Phillip has customers for life here in Farmington, UT.”

We couldn't ask for a better compliment.

Thank you, Glen and Ann, for trusting us with your home and for taking the time to share your experience. We're grateful for every opportunity we have to serve our neighbors here in Farmington and throughout Northern Utah.

⚡ DID YOU KNOW?

Many older homes throughout Northern Utah were built long before EV chargers, home offices, large entertainment systems, and many of the electrical appliances we use every day.

While an older electrical system may still be functioning, it may not have been designed for today's electrical demand.

That's one reason it's important to pay attention to signs like frequently tripped breakers, flickering lights, or a panel that's running out of space for additional circuits.

Every home is different, but understanding your electrical system can help you plan for future needs and avoid surprises.

⚡ Why Do Breakers Keep Tripping?

A breaker tripping once in a while can be normal.

But repeated trips may be a sign your electrical system needs attention.

This older GE service panel in Ogden was original to the home and is fairly common for houses of this age throughout Northern Utah.

Repeated breaker trips can sometimes point to:
✔️ Overloaded circuits
✔️ Loose electrical connections
✔️ Aging breakers or panels
✔️ Wiring issues
✔️ Increased electrical demand

Electrical issues often develop gradually over time before larger problems appear.

⚡ Half the House Lost Power—Here’s What We Found

We recently responded to a home in Clearfield where the homeowner reported that half of the house had suddenly lost power.

After inspection, we found that one of the main service cable connections at the main breaker had become extremely loose over time, causing overheating and eventual failure.

The meter panel was original to the home and approximately 35–40 years old.

Issues like this usually develop slowly over many years and often aren’t obvious until a failure finally occurs.

Fortunately, a replacement main breaker was available and power was restored without requiring a full meter panel replacement.

Routine electrical inspections and maintenance can help identify loose or failing connections before they become larger issues.

⚡ Tesla EV Charger Installation–Layton, Utah

We recently completed this Tesla charger installation for a homeowner in Layton (Davis County).

The project included:
✔️ New 60-amp / 240-volt dedicated circuit
✔️ Run from the main service panel to the garage
✔️ Surface-mounted EMT conduit installation
✔️ Clean, code-compliant setup ready for daily charging

The homeowner chose an exposed conduit installation, which means the quality of the conduit work really matters. Clean bends and layout make a big difference in the finished result—and that comes with experience.

The best part? Seeing that Tesla charger glowing green and ready to go ⚡
