Light of Christ Community Garden A community activity where volunteers come together to work for the good of others. Tacoma to work together to provide for the needful of our community.

The Light of Christ Community Garden is a community activity for the citizens of Federal Way and N.E. The garden is 10,000 square feet with 54 raised beds and produces between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds of organic produce each year. One quadrant is dedicated gardeners with special needs including wheel chair participants. The produce is distributed free of charge to local families in need, FUSION tran

sitional housing, a senior housing development, and local food banks. The project is sponsored and managed by the Light of Christ Lutheran Church, LCMS, Care Ministry. Funding for the project comes from donations, grants and in kind services of local businesses.

It is with a sad but grateful heart that we announce that the final day for the Light of Christ Community Garden is Wed., Nov. 5th. A huge THANK YOU to everyone that has helped support the garden over the past 15 years.

What a fun time we had at the WA State Fair! We had lots of fun things for kids to do, and lots of great information for the adults.
We entered our Walla Walla Sweet Onions and a Dutch Flathead Cabbage for judging. I think we did ok. Thank you to everyone that participated in manning the booth this year.

At the Light of Christ Community Garden Farewell Party, it was wonderful to see people that have been involved with the Light of Christ Community Garden from its conception to today. This community garden that has served the Federal Way community for 15 years could never have happened without the skills and support of all our wonderful, dedicated volunteers.

Thank you to all the volunteers working the We Love Our City Serve Day! Here's some pictures from the Light of Christ Community Garden where volunteers were busy harvesting blueberries, weeding, pulling up bricks and putting down wood chips. Your work is greatly appreciated!!
