Many of you have heard about Seth’s accident last week. While operating a stand-on skid loader, he suffered a serious leg injury that resulted in multiple fractures around his knee and lower leg. Today he underwent surgery, and thankfully everything went very well. The doctors are optimistic about his recovery, but there is still a long road ahead, and we’re taking it one day at a time.
Through all of this, there is one person who deserves recognition: Ben.
Ben has been Seth’s best friend for years, and from the moment the accident happened, he never hesitated to step up. He was there when Seth was injured and immediately helped get him the medical attention he needed. While Seth was being transported to the hospital, Ben stayed behind to secure the job site, finish cleanup, and make sure everything was taken care of.
Since then, he has checked in constantly, helped keep jobs moving, and has done everything possible to make sure our customers continue receiving the same level of service they expect from us. Today, despite it being his birthday, he spent the day replacing stormwater pipes on a township project without a single complaint.
What makes this even more remarkable is that Ben and his family have been carrying a lot of their own responsibilities and life changes right now. Ben has a wife at home who is nine months pregnant and due to welcome their baby girl into the world any day now. Not long ago, he made the decision to step away from the corporate world and take a leap of faith toward building a better future for his family being a small business owner as well. Even with all of life’s changes happening at once, he continues to show up for the people around him.
God has a funny way of making things work, and we truly believe people come into our lives for a reason. Ben has been a blessing to our family, our company, and Seth during one of the most difficult times we’ve faced. He is the type of person every business owner hopes to have on their team—someone who treats the company as if it were his own and can always be counted on when it matters most.
We would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out with calls, texts, messages, thoughts, prayers, and incredibly generous donations through the GoFundMe. The support from our community has been overwhelming, and we are beyond grateful. Every kind word, prayer, and contribution has meant more than you know as we navigate Seth’s recovery.
A special thank you also goes out to our fellow local business owners and friends who have reached out and offered to help keep jobs moving, assist with scheduled work, donations and support us during this difficult time. Small businesses understand the challenges that come with unexpected setbacks, and the willingness of so many people to step up and help has been nothing short of amazing.
We also want everyone to know that S.R. Excavating Inc. is still open for business. While we’re navigating this journey one day at a time and some projects may take a little longer to schedule, we are still taking estimates and booking future work. Supporting us through the work we do means more than most people realize. We still have employees, equipment, insurance, and operating expenses to keep up with, and every project helps keep our small business moving forward.
