South Dakota delivered.

We stood beneath Mount Rushmore.

Walked the grounds of Crazy Horse.

Drove the Black Hills. Watched buffalo roam through Custer State Park. Ended the trip in the Badlands where the prairie gives way to stone and sky.

The Traveling Cob made every mile.

Tomorrow we point the truck toward Colorado, but tonight, we'll enjoy one last South Dakota sunset.

Miles fade. Memories don't.

Rapid City, South Dakota.

Sitting under the wide-open skies of the Black Hills with a trusty Peterson in hand and a bowl of Cornell & Diehl Manhattan Afternoon smoldering away. Beautiful country. Good people. Miles of open road and enough history to remind you what built this nation.

Sometimes the best moments aren't complicated. Just a pipe, a little time to think, and a deep appreciation for the country we're blessed to call home.

From the pine-covered hills of South Dakota to the backroads of the South, the spirit is the same—hard work, freedom, faith, and gratitude.

Keep your powder dry, your pipe lit, and your eyes on the horizon.

This old WDC Milano Special with its sterling silver band wasn't looking for a museum. It was looking for another chance.

Stripped to bare briar. Given new life. Ready for another generation.

This old Kaywoodie Super Grain came to the bench with a burned rim, decades of hard use, and every reason to be forgotten.

The bowl was sound. The briar still had a story to tell.

The scars remain, because they've been earned.

Today we remember the men who climbed out of those landing craft and stormed the beaches of Normandy. Ordinary men who carried extraordinary courage and changed the course of history.

We enjoy the freedoms they fought for, and we refuse to forget the price that was paid.

To the D-Day generation: thank you. Your grit, sacrifice, and brotherhood still light the way.

There's just something about an old GBD.

Every time one shows up on the SG-I workbench, we slow down a little. These old English pipes don't need to be reinvented—they need to be respected.

Strip away the years, clean up the scars, bring the briar back to life, and let the pipe tell its own story.

This GBD was taken down to bare briar and brought back with a light British Tan finish, wax, and a little patience. No heavy stain. No shortcuts. Just honest briar and another chance to do what it was made to do.

We love working on these old GBDs.

They were built to be smoked, carried, and handed down. This one is ready for another generation.

Long live the briar.

Hello, fellow brothers and sisters of the briar and cob.

Quick question for those of you who travel by air: Do you carry your pipes in your carry-on bag, or do you pack them in your checked luggage?

If you carry them on, have you ever had any issues with TSA? From what I've been able to find, to***co pipes and tins of to***co are permitted in carry-on luggage, but I've never actually traveled that way. I've always packed my pipes in my checked bag.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences and any tips you might have.

Some pipes don't need perfection. They need redemption.

This old carved briar arrived tired, faded, and forgotten. Underneath was a good pipe waiting to breathe again.

Stripped to bare briar. Refinished SG-I style. Finished with stain, oil, wax, and patience.

Not every pipe deserves saving.

This one did.
