This old prefinished floor needed more than a quick refresh, so I brought it back to life with a full refinish.

Some of the boards had stains that went deeper than sanding could reach, so I patched those out with new boards. Then I restained the whole floor in Golden Oak and finished it with three coats of oil-based satin polyurethane. Now the floor looks warm and even again. 🙌

This fir floor on Leek Lake had been hidden under paint for years. Underneath, it was still a beautiful old floor waiting to come back.

I sanded off the paint and brought the original fir back to life. Now this floor gets to show off its character again. 🙌

This home on Otter Tail Lake had an original oak floor from the ’80s with a beautiful radius the homeowners wanted to keep, so I worked with it instead of around it.

I added a header along the curve, then laid in new 3¼" red oak and hand-scribed every board to follow the radius. Once it was all in, I sanded the whole floor so the old and new oak blended together. I sealed it with Loba Amber Prime to bring out that warm, rich tone, then finished it with two coats of Loba satin.

Curves like this take extra time and patience, but they’re some of my favorite projects. The result is a floor that keeps its original character and looks like it was always meant to be this way. 🙌

This white oak floor in Detroit Lakes hadn't been touched in over 24 years, and it was ready for some attention.

I sanded it all the way down to fresh wood, which took off decades of wear and brought back the natural grain. Then I finished it with Loba water-based satin. It keeps white oak looking light and natural without the yellowing you get from oil-based finishes, and the satin sheen gives it a clean, modern look.

It's amazing what a refinish can do. This floor has plenty of life left in it. 🙌

Every once in a while I get a call from a homeowner who started refinishing their floors themselves and got partway in before deciding they'd like a pro to finish it. That's exactly what this one was, and I was happy to jump in.

I sanded everything down to get an even, clean surface. Then I put down a coat of Amber Prime, which brings out the warm, rich tone in the wood. I finished it with Loba satin for a durable topcoat with a soft, natural sheen that doesn't look too shiny.

The result is warm and even, and it'll hold up to everyday life. 🙌

1.5" Red Oak – Sanded & Finished with Loba Satin

Just finished up a 1.5" red oak floor out by Deer Creek, MN. I sanded it down to a clean, level surface and finished it with Loba satin for a durable, low-sheen look that'll hold up for years. Solid oak like this is a joy to work with — good bones make for a great result.

Century-Old Farmhouse, Refinished

Maple floors in a 100+ year old farmhouse near Lake Park — sanded and refinished with an oil-based satin finish. Oil-based satin gives maple a rich, warm depth that really shows off the wood's natural grain. Old-growth maple like this doesn't come around often, and it's always a treat to bring it back to life.
