Another great day on the range running our Intermediate Carbine Course.

Designed to build upon the fundamentals taught in our Fundamental Carbine Program, this course introduces students to the practical application of the rifle in a dynamic environment. Training focuses on weapons handling under stress, malfunction recognition and clearance, reload procedures, rifle-to-handgun transitions, handgun-to-rifle transitions, movement, use of cover and concealment, target discrimination, and team communication principles.

As students become more confident with the platform, we begin introducing tactical concepts and problem-solving exercises that require them to think, move, communicate, and engage effectively. The goal is not simply marksmanship, but developing a capable and responsible armed citizen who understands how to employ the rifle efficiently and safely.

Back in the classroom this week running our Advanced Trauma Course.

While our Foundational Trauma Program focuses on the MARCH algorithm and the immediate management of life-threatening injuries, our Advanced Trauma Course takes students several steps further. Participants learn advanced hemorrhage control techniques, improvised tourniquet construction using fundamental tourniquet principles, improvised splinting, burn assessment and management, environmental emergencies, patient movement considerations, prolonged field care concepts, and advanced airway management including airway assessment, adjunct selection, and advanced airway placement considerations when managing critically ill or injured patients.

The course also expands beyond traumatic injuries and introduces students to common medical emergencies, shock recognition and management, patient assessment, and additional trauma decision-making algorithms designed to help bridge the gap between basic first aid and advanced emergency care.

Our goal is not simply to teach skills, but to teach the critical thinking behind them. Equipment fails. Supplies run out. Conditions change. Students learn how to adapt, improvise, and overcome using sound medical principles that can be applied in the real world.

It’s good to be back in Florida and even better to be back on the range.

This weekend we conducted Long Range Precision Rifle courses, covering everything from target acquisition and grouping exercises to environmental considerations, wind reading, ballistic data, and engaging targets out to 800 meters.

Even with gusty and at times sustained full-value winds, every student successfully met the course objectives and demonstrated a solid understanding of the fundamentals required for long-range success.

If terms like full-value wind, DOPE, target acquisition, or environmental effects sound unfamiliar, that’s exactly why we train. If you attended a course and didn’t receive one of our course books, drop us a line and we’ll get you squared away.

It’s been a little while since we’ve posted, and that’s usually a good thing.

When we’re training agencies, supporting operations, or working behind the scenes, social media tends to take a back seat. We’ve always believed professionalism means focusing on the mission rather than documenting every moment for likes and followers.

That said, we finally have a little downtime and are looking forward to getting back to our regular clients, students, and training schedule. We’ve got some exciting projects in the works, new classes coming up, and plenty to share over the next few weeks.

For now, we’re enjoying a brief pause in the action, spending time with family, and watching the Red Sox and Yankees battle it out.

Weekend classes wrapped up and another strong weekend in the books. This weekend was our Foundational Pre-Hospital Trauma Care course, and with one more class running this evening, that puts us at 45 courses taught already this year.

One thing that separates us is our small instructor-to-student ratio. More reps. More hands-on training. More simulation labs. More time actually building the skill sets that matter. We don’t run cattle-call classes — we build operational skill sets so when our clients leave our courses, they leave with real-world capability and confidence they can apply when it matters most.

Mid-week classes underway with this crew.

Today we’ve been working on shooting in and around other people, understanding angles, movement, target discrimination, and operating in realistic environments. If you are ever forced into a deadly force encounter, it will not happen standing still on a flat square range with nobody around you. There will be chaos. There may be innocent people around you. There may even be other armed citizens engaging the threat at the same time.

If you do not know how to identify good from bad, armed from unarmed, or how to safely move, communicate, and engage around other people, you are already at a disadvantage before the fight even starts.

This is why we train the way we train.
