An Update from Sarah’s Art BeesNess ✨

Life has been complicated behind the scenes, and after much thought I’ve decided I won’t be attending the WhimmyDiddle this year. 🐝

This doesn’t mean I’m disappearing—it means I’m taking time to rework, recharge, and build. My shop is currently “under construction” with new upgrades, fresh products, and a website in the making so I can share more with you online.

Thank you for your patience and support during this transition. I’m so excited for what’s coming next, and I can’t wait to show you everything I’ve been creating when the hive reopens. 💛

See? Even bees don’t drink and fly

In the sweltering heat of Australia, certain flowers produce nectar that ferments into alcohol. Bees that consume this boozy nectar become visibly intoxicated—staggering, flying erratically, and sometimes unable to return to their hives. To protect the colony, guard bees act as vigilant bouncers, denying entry to these inebriated foragers until they've sobered up. This behavior prevents the introduction of fermented nectar into the hive, which could harm the entire colony.

Interestingly, this phenomenon predominantly affects introduced European honeybees, while Australia's native bee species appear less susceptible to the effects of fermented nectar.

So, the next time you see a bee wobbling mid-flight, remember: even in the insect world, there's a strict policy against flying under the influence.​
