Why It’s Important to Know How to Find Roof Leaks?

Knowing how to find roof leaks is crucial for homeowners to prevent extensive water damage and costly repairs. Roof leaks and repairs can be challenging to address, but identifying the source of the problem early can save time and money. First, look for signs of water damage on ceilings and walls, then use a ladder to inspect the roof. When examining the attic space, use a flashlight and look for moisture on the attic floor and bottom of the rafters. Start on the lower part of the roof and work your way up, paying close attention to areas where two planes meet.

Take time and spend a few minutes in each area, examining one section at a time. Some tips on how to find leaks quickly include checking for missing shingles, damaged flashing, and areas where water tends to pool.

Here are the key things to check after having a new roof installed:
Exterior Roof Inspection:-

✅Check for uniformity in the appearance and alignment of the shingles. Make sure there are no missing, loose, curled, blistered or broken shingles.
✅Inspect the flashing around chimneys, vents, and valleys to ensure it is properly installed and sealed. Look for any missing or improperly installed flashing.
✅Examine the drip edges to verify they are properly installed.
✅Check that all nails are properly seated and not exposed, loose or popped up.
Look for any signs of sagging or unevenness in the roof.
✅Inspect the gutters and downspouts to ensure they are properly attached and free of damage or clogs.
✅Check the condition of the fascia board, soffit, and siding above the roof for any damage.
✅Verify proper shingle overhangs at gutters and eaves.
