Is your retaining wall leaning, bulging or cracking? It does not always mean starting over.

Pictured: a natural stone wall our crew built, the way a finished wall should look.

Most wall problems we see around Memphis come back to two things: water trapped behind the wall, or a footer that was never built right. Some walls can be saved by digging out the back side and adding the drainage they should have had from the start. Others need a full rebuild. Our new blog post walks through how to tell the difference, what a real repair involves, and when a wall needs an engineered design and a permit.

Read it here: https://www.green-earthllc.com/blog/2026/november/retaining-wall-repair-or-rebuild-how-to-tell-in-/

A good wall should look like it belongs in the yard. The part you don't see matters most: a properly sized footer, clean drainage stone and drain pipe wrapped in filter fabric so water keeps moving instead of pushing on the wall.

We build and repair retaining walls across Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Cordova and Arlington, with free estimates across the Mid-South. Give us a call at (901) 657-3614 to set one up.

We finally got some real rain after a long dry stretch. That first good soaking is the best time to see where water really goes in your yard.

Take a quick walk around today. Look for standing water, soggy spots that stay wet, and puddles near your foundation or under downspouts. Those are the spots that cause trouble once the wet season settles in.

Green Earth installs French drains, downspout tie-ins and other drainage fixes across Germantown, Collierville, Cordova, Arlington and the Memphis area. Spotted a problem area? Call (901) 657-3614 or visit green-earthllc.com/landscaping-services/drainage/

Not every yard has room for a giant hedge. These three common screens fit average-size yards and still give you privacy all year.

Swipe for three evergreens that work in a typical yard:

🌿 Podocarpus
🌿 Foster Holly

Property managers, HOAs, and business owners: is your lot on a snow plan yet?

Memphis winter weather is unpredictable. You never know if a storm will bring snow or ice, and the properties that come through it best are the ones that booked commercial snow plowing before it was in the forecast.

Here's how a Green Earth commercial snow plowing contract works:
✅ A custom plan built for your property
✅ Triggers (the snow or ice depth that sends our crew out) set up front and built into the estimate
✅ A site map showing exactly what gets cleared
✅ Pre-storm treatment if your property needs it

Booking ahead gets you prioritized on the schedule, lets us order ice melt in advance, and costs you nothing if it doesn't snow.

Snow and ice management starts at $250 per visit, and snow plowing and ice removal start at $500 per visit. Final pricing depends on your lot and your plan.

If you have a larger lot, you have more options for a privacy screen that looks full and natural along a long property line.

This carousel covers two fast-growing evergreens that work well with more room:

Cryptomeria grows into a large landscape tree, about 30–40 feet tall and 15–20 feet wide, so give it plenty of space.

Screen Play Holly reaches about 25–30 feet tall and 8–10 feet wide, with dense branching and red berries through fall and winter.

Planted together, they give you a layered screen instead of one long, uniform wall.

Green Earth LLC does privacy hedge installation and shrub planting in Germantown and Collierville, plus Arlington and East Memphis.

Not every yard has room for a wide hedge. For side yards, fence lines, and tight spaces between houses, a narrow evergreen can give you privacy without taking over.

This carousel covers three slim options: Taylor Juniper, Emerald Green Arborvitae, and Emerald Colonnade Holly. One note: Emerald Green Arborvitae is not deer resistant, so if deer pass through your yard, one of the other two may be a better fit.

Green Earth LLC handles privacy hedge installation and shrub planting in Germantown and Collierville, plus Arlington and East Memphis.
