G & R Heating and Air is a certified, licensed and insured Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor. G & R was started in 2014 by two brothers-in-law.

They are still locally owned and operated. Giving back to the community is at the foundation of who we are at G & R. We are active members of the communities we live in and service. The giving-back programs we have in place are something that set us apart. Running your fan all day might feel like a smart move, but in a humid Chicago summer, it can actually work against you. 🥴

When your thermostat is set to fan-only mode, the blower runs continuously without activating the cooling system. That means no dehumidification. The fan is just moving the same humid air around the house without removing any moisture from it. In a Chicagoland summer, indoor humidity builds up fast. Even if the temperature on your thermostat looks fine, your home can start to feel sticky and uncomfortable.

The better setting is "auto." With the fan set to auto, it only runs during active cooling cycles, which means your system is also removing moisture every time it kicks on. The result is a cooler and more comfortable home without the added humidity.
