The other night Charm City LUG had the pleasure of helping host our very first LEGO Workshop at Elkridge Library!
Thanks to an incredibly generous donation of LEGO bricks to the library, we were able to build, create, and image alongside 18 enthusiastic young builders and bring their ideas to life.
Seeing so many kids excited to build, share their creations, and learn from each other reminded us exactly why community events like these matter.

We’re excited to announce that this is just the beginning! We hope to make these workshops a recurring monthly event, offering a mix of open Play Bricks sessions for younger builders and technique-focused workshops for older kids looking to develop new LEGO building skills.
A huge thank you to Elkridge Library, the generous donor, our volunteers, and all the young builders who joined us for our first session. We can’t wait to build with you again next month!

We had our monthly LUG meeting last night with a great turnout. Our LUG had the opportunity to pilot one of the recent botanical packages from the LEGO Group; last night members had the chance to use those pieces to create their own flowers - Something we plan to do with the community at future events.
If you’re interested in joining Charm City LUG, we meet the second Wednesday of the month - check our website for location as it sometimes changes. Our next meeting will be July 8 at the Eldridge library

Charm City LUG helped celebrate Diá del Niño at Patterson Park with Friends of Patterson Park! The make-a-flower station was a big hit with the kids, as was the play-brick. ¡Felix día del niño!

Charm City LUG was back again at Marshy Point Nature Center for their annual Spring Festival! Featuring several incredible builds from our members, mountains of play-brick for the kids, and our brand new build-a-flower activity with parts from LEGO botanical sets!

On April 7, Charm City LUG unveiled the completed collaborative cake celebrating the 150th birthday of The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore including announcing the zoo’s new Red Panda exhibit!

We were also featured on WBAL and WJZ reaching an estimated 3M people!

Our cake will be on display for the rest of the year so stop by Penguin Coast to view the cake on your next zoo visit!

Charm City LUG had a great time this year at BrickFair Fredericksburg. We had a fantastic showing exhibiting the many diverse talents of our LUG members.

We won one Staff Favorite Brickee and earned four nominations in other categories.

On March 22nd, Charm City LUG was proud to unveil the third layer of our collaborative LEGO cake at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore!
This layer features penguins, chimps, gorillas, tiger, and penguin ice sculptures!
We can't wait for you to check it out in person at the Penguin Coast, right under the dunk tank. Check back again on April 7 for the 4th and final layer!

On February 14th, Charm City LUG was proud to unveil the second layer of our collaborative LEGO cake at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore!

In recognition of Black History Month, this layer features a special slice inspired by Mary J. Wilson, the first African-American senior zookeeper at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

Other slices include an elephant with Mary Wilson in minifig form, flamingo, giraffes, possums, ostriches, the Marsh Aviary with an egret, black-eyed susans, and Baron the slender-snouted crocodile.

We can't wait for you to check it out in person at the Penguin Coast, right under the dunk tank. Check back again next month for layer 3!

Another successful year at the Marley Station Mall train display!
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to check us out! We loved seeing all of you and the excitement in the faces of all the kids.

We are honored to collaborate with The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on a very special project: a multi-tiered LEGO cake created to celebrate the Zoo’s collection of unique animals.

The first layer was revealed on January 2, 2026 featuring hometown support for the Baltimore Ravens and showcasing animals such as the African lion, African black-footed penguin, Panamanian golden frog, grizzly bear, bats, dolphins, and a raven’s nest.

Come check it out at Penguin Coast, and stay tuned for next month when we reveal the second layer!
