At ICON Architectural Group, we’re proud to design spaces that inspire future generations. ✨ Last week, we were excited to break ground on the new Horace Mann Elementary School - a project that combines the existing Horace Mann, Roosevelt, and Madison schools into one modern, welcoming learning environment for students in grades K-5.

The $35 million, 78,460-square-foot facility was thoughtfully designed to complement the surrounding historic neighborhood through timeless brick, cast stone, and architectural detailing.

Inside, spacious classrooms filled with natural light, flexible learning spaces, and playful pops of color create an engaging atmosphere where students and staff can truly make the space their own. 🏫

Outdoor amenities will include an inclusive playground with accessible play structures, poured-in-place safety surfacing, and expansive green space for recreation and connection. 🌿

We were honored to join Devils Lake Public Schools for the groundbreaking celebration of the Central Middle School renovation and addition project! 🎉🏫
The ceremonial dirt toss took place right where the new spacious commons and performance area will soon welcome students, staff, and the community. Designed to honor the school’s historic character while creating modern, functional spaces, this project will bring exciting updates throughout the building, including:
✨ A new commons and performance space with exposed original brick
📚 An updated media center
🔐 A new secure main entrance and office
♿ Improved accessibility with new interior and exterior ramps
🏫 Updated classrooms, finishes, lighting, and casework throughout the school
🪵 Preserving the original hardwood floors and architectural character whenever possible
We’re excited to see this transformation begin and can’t wait for the community to enjoy these updated spaces for years to come!

Hundreds of Hi-Liners gathered at the future home of the new Valley City school last Wednesday to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the new grades 3–12 school 🏫✨ The $46 million referendum project will be connected to the existing K–2 school and located on the same site as the varsity football field and track 🏈🏃‍♂️

The new facility will serve approximately 950 K–12 students and feature a state-of-the-art library 📚, gymnasium 🏀, and district offices. ICON is proud to be part of this exciting milestone for the school district and the entire community 👏💙💛

🍎✨ Teacher Appreciation Week gives us an opportunity to stop for a moment and recognize the people who pour so much of themselves into students, schools, and communities. ❤️📚

Teaching has never been just a job. It is long hours, constant encouragement, quiet sacrifices, and an endless commitment to helping young people grow into who they are meant to become. The impact teachers make is impossible to fully measure because it continues long after students leave the classroom 🎓.

At ICON, this appreciation runs especially deep. Many of us have worked in public education ourselves or have spouses and family members who continue to serve in schools every day 🏫. We have seen firsthand the care, patience, and heart it takes to support students and communities .

We know the work is not always easy, and we also know how meaningful it is. To every teacher, counselor, paraprofessional, and school staff member who shows up each day for kids - thank you. Your work matters, your influence lasts, and the difference you make is felt in countless lives every single day 👏.

Who says punch list day has to be boring? 👷‍♂️🏫 Our Devils Lake team is out at Prairie View Elementary School making sure everything is on track for its opening this fall!

This exciting project will bring 5th grade students over to Prairie View from Central Middle School, expanding the school from serving just 3rd-4th grades to now welcoming 3rd-5th graders. 📚✨

We’re excited to help create a space where students can learn, grow, and thrive, and we can’t wait to see the community enjoy their new school!

Last week, Brittany Carroll, one of our Revit Technicians, served as a panelist for student design charrette presentations at the NDSCS Architectural Modeling and Design Technology Program.

Industry professionals like Brittany had the opportunity to review student work, offer feedback, and ask questions - helping students strengthen their case studies and projects. 💬📐
