Put the WD-40 down. π
We know. It's in every garage. It smells like it's working. But WD stands for Water Displacement, and it's actually drying out every moving part on your garage door every time you use it.
Lithium grease is just as bad. It grabs dirt, dust, and debris until it's a gummy mess that adds friction instead of reducing it.
What actually works π
β
Oil-based, non-silicone lubricant
β
Applied to roller bearings, hinge points, springs, and a light pass on the track
β
That's it. Targeted. Clean. Done.
We use Get Some 1000 pet-safe, food-grade, good enough for body shops and restaurants. Can't find it? Tri-Flow from any hardware store works great too.
And if you want a can of what we use, stop by the Kooler shop. $20 and your door will thank you. π
