As I look at Facebook this morning for the 1st time since sometime Friday, wow is all I can say. I left my house noon Friday preparing 4 trucks to be ready to clear the snow. We had all the properties pretreated, I had all the route sheets and work tracking sheets in all the trucks. The snow came in a bit earlier and stronger than they expected. We kept waiting for the lull so we could all get a litte rest in the middle instead the snow was coming down strong and steady the entire time. I spent 2 hours on a big industrial lot only to feel like I needed to start over. Instead there is another property on my list that is far worse off because I haven't been there so move on. Then the next and next then start over. This was any plow truck drivers experience well through yesterday as they finished each lot now that the snow is over. All the while I am contacting the other drivers to see where they are, if they need help or send them to calls received from our customers or backing up another driver or dealing with a broke down truck. Back up to when the snow started we had one truck that decided not to start and we were down 1 truck the entire first day, had it towed to the shop and found someone mobile to come fix it Sunday, while that truck was down, had a big salt box go down, had to shovel all the salt out of it into my box. So me and that truck ran tandem until it was out of salt. So essentially we had 2 plows at 1 location then I would salt and meet at the next location. We did this until it was out of salt. We then had someone attempt to repair it, thought it was working so we loaded it again. Well...nope, not today. So again when my box was empty we shoveled it from the large box. Got to keep moving. Its Sunday, I take a break and go home while we put another driver in my truck. No sleep because I am still dispatcher, fielding calls, getting a repair guy to get my 4th truck going. Just as we get that 4th truck running, Jerry is having chest pains and Trey calls 911. This is Sunday afternoon. Break is over, I get a ride to the hospital. He is fine, no heart attack, dehydrated, blood pressure was super high, he was treated and released. This is Sunday night about 9pm. I took him home and he rested for about 5 hours, then back at it. I'm still going no sleep. Our other drivers did swap out and get some rest. Now that all 4 trucks are going we are finally getting somewhere. Jerry and I made it home about 6pm yesterday, ate and straight to bed. We had 1 driver follow up with some customer requests and was likely home about 10. This morning, back to my 9 to 5 with a double ear infection with 1 ear oozing. Urgent care is in my future today. Sorry if we sucked, we did our best. Im sure we will have some follow up today. Peace and please be kind and patient if you are looking for help with your snow. J & S Lawn Masters
