June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health affects us all. Men die by su***de at 4 times the rate that women do, but men are much less likely than women to receive mental health treatment. In addition to symptoms like worry, sadness, and loss of motivation, men often feel irritable, angry, and frustrated when dealing with poor mental health.

One Year. What a Ride.

Today, we celebrate our first year in business.

When Walk Your Plans Des Moines began, it was built on a vision: helping the construction industry reduce risk, improve communication, align stakeholders, and make better decisions before construction begins. A vision is powerful—but without people willing to believe in it, it remains only that: a vision.

To our partners, builders, architects, designers, contractors, developers, and clients: thank you.

Thank you for trusting us with your projects, your teams, and your reputations. Thank you for embracing a different way of planning and collaborating. Your belief in what we do has allowed us to grow beyond what we imagined in year one.

The truth is that your vision for how Walk Your Plans can help your businesses and clients is what continues to propel us forward. Every project, every conversation, every opportunity to serve reinforces why we started this journey in the first place.

And on a deeply personal note, my greatest gratitude belongs to my wife, Lorie.

She is not simply my partner in life—she is my partner in this business. If this company is an engine, she is the other four cylinders. Without her unwavering support, sacrifice, encouragement, and belief in what we set out to build, this dream would never have become reality.

Owning a business is not easy. It never has been, and it never will be. There are long days, uncertain moments, and challenges that test your resolve. Through all of it, she has been steadfast, reminding me why we started and helping keep us moving forward.

Thank you for an amazing first year at Walk Your Plans Des Moines.

We are incredibly grateful for every client, partner, builder, architect, designer, owner, and community member who has supported us, trusted us, and helped bring this vision to life. What started as an idea has grown into a place where future projects can be walked through, to experience plans of any type, scope and scale, gain confidence in their decisions, and truly see their projects before they’re built.

This year has been full of meaningful conversations, exciting projects, and so much growth—and none of it would have been possible without the support behind us.

We’re grateful for where we’ve been, and even more excited for what’s ahead. Thank you to everyone.

Thank you to the B family for coming all the way in from Swisher, Iowa to look through their house plans. And how great to have their builder Mike come along. Several significant change elements were discovered and documented. And every change made was exactly related to FORM or FUNCTION or FLOW. These changes were precisely and specifically made for how they will live in their new home and surrounding spaces. A fantastic session! Thank you!
