It’s not everyday you get to fix 100 year old crown molding ,20 feet in the air but today was that day!

The amazing folks at the Grinnell Area Arts Council had scaffolding ready to go when I came in! After scoping out the best way for repair, I got to work! Cleaned up the area, reinforced the underside, and remounted the over 12” crown molding! Did I mention 20’ in the air yet? 😁

Always fun getting my hands on these projects. Probably has not been touched since installed, now how long until the next person needs to? Hopefully not for another 100 years!

I like to sponser animals at the local shelter Poweshiek Animal League Shelter - PALS. This month I am sponsoring Crow.

I happened to meet Crow when I was at PALS and he had a very rough start. He was discarded from a moving vehicle like trash along with his brothers and sisters. Crow was the only survivor.

He had a very very bad road burn under his neck that required lots of hands on treatment, on top of the craziness of bottle feeding! I knew right away that he was my next sponsor!

So if little Crow “Road Warrior” (nick name I gave him for being such a fighter!) stop out to pals today and check him out!

Big news! I’m excited to share that I’m officially adding professional home inspections to the services I offer, with appointments starting August 18th.

Many of you already know me through my handyman work. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in countless homes, seeing firsthand how they’re built, maintained, and sometimes neglected. That experience has given me an eye for details that can make a big difference to homeowners and buyers alike.

Becoming a home inspector is a natural next step for me. My goal is simple: to provide honest, thorough, and unbiased inspections so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

Whether you’re buying your first home, selling your current one, or just want a better understanding of your home’s condition, I’d be honored to help.

Today we are putting the Restore in our company motto! It is always so much fun watching the original wood floors come back to life! And for a surprisingly lower cost than you think!

I will try to get more posts going showcasing our work including the transformation of these gorgeous floors! I have been busy with a number of jobs including; new doors and trim, tile back splash, electrical reworks and number of others! I meant it when I say we can do it all! Did you know?! That old tired grout can be stained back to life!! Most people think it’s too daunting to do a bathroom remodel. Instead we can do a bathroom refresh like here! It will be amazing what some fresh grout, paint and trim work will do to this bathroom!

One of my regular clients reached out to me asking for help with an area of old flooring that doesn’t match the rest!

After deciding it would have been an impossible match, we decided to cover the area with a storage bench! Not only covers the area and looks intentional, but also a new storage / nook sitting area! I decided to shadow box in some metal to give it a distinctive look!

What does a GC do? I am serving as a project manager: I’m taking care of the work the electrical team needs to keep going (in this case, removing a basement drop ceiling so the crew can access wiring!), serving as the point of contact for both the crew and homeowner, and most importantly, keeping my client updated and making sure their home is well maintained throughout the process!
