Let's talk Mushrooms on this wonderful rainy day in Western NC.🍄😍❤️
With the weather now bringing some much needed rain to our area, and the ground temperature reaching the optimal temp for Morels, we are getting VERY excited to start seeing them pop up in the forest!
This delicious fungi had been so elusive for me in all my years of foraging, until last year when I stumbled upon the mother load! We had a steady stream of these unique and flavorful mushrooms of 2 weeks before they shriveled up and went dormant once again until this coming season.
The Mayapple are sprouting their leaves, and we are stretching our legs for the long trek to finding some beautiful specimens next week.
Don't forget, if you decide to look for any foraged food yourself, be 100% sure of identification and bring a trash bag with you to pick up litter along the way! Have a wonderful day and happy foraging. 😉
