Took a rare Saturday off from working at Ge**er Locker and made it count! Dustin & Clay woke up early and went fishing. They caught us a lot of fish for dinner!
Then worked our sheep. Tagged, wormed and trimmed hooves as a family.
Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day at home! ❤️

Madelyn took it upon herself today to learn how to make whipped tallow. She researched, bought supplies and made labels all by herself. She picked out her own scent and got to it. Next up learning how to price something and the breakdown of cost from her supplies. Homeschooling at its finest! 🩷 Proud of my girl!

Sometimes Homesteading can be heartbreaking and today is one of those days. Not every ewe is a great mom and sometimes lambs just fail to thrive for no reason. This ewe rejected her sweet girl from the beginning and she came into this world at an early hour of the day and was already rejected my her mom. We took her in and tried our biggest effort to help this girl thrive. Unfortunately our efforts weren't enough and she passed last night. And with that heart break I walked out this morning to check on the rest of our sweet lambs and came upon the brother of the sweet lamb we lost and he had passed too.

I have always loved new life on the homestead it always makes me in awe of our Lords blessings and the masterpiece of his creations. Just like in life we receive so many blessings but not all things pan out the way we want them to but God is still with us every step to get us through.

Hello everyone! I know it's been awhile since I have posted on our homestead page. It was a nice long break and a winter full of rest.
It is Lambing season here at the Slaven Homestead and we have 6 new lambs as of now and many more to come. So far 5 of the 6 lambs are doing well and with their mommas. We have one lamb who was rejected my her momma and is now a bottle baby and not doing so well. We are praying she can make a full recovery with our close attention and love.
Our kids are currently at their grandparents house and are so excited to come home to all the lambs and to love on this sweet girl we are praying pulls through!

Hope everyone had a great winter but around here we are ready for spring and to watch everything come back to life and in full color!❤️
