Not every flower is meant to become a squash.

This handsome fellow is a male squash flower. His entire job is to open up, make some pollen, attract a bee or two…and call it a day.

The female flowers are the ones with a tiny baby squash waiting just behind the blossom. Once pollen makes its way from him to her, that’s when the magic happens.

We tend to look at a vegetables for what it gives us.

The tomato.
The zucchini.
The harvest.

But there’s a whole lot of life happening before we ever get to eat anything.

Sometimes it’s worth sticking your nose in a squash flower and nerding out about it.

Happy growing, Hayden friends!

I love spending time in people’s gardens and making it a little bit more beautiful. I feel it’s like a calling. I’m one of the gardeners in town and I just love taking care of people’s property. Especially when I get to make new furry friends ✌️

Need a little help getting your garden back on track?

August is a wonderful time to give your yard a fresh lift before the season starts winding down.

If you’ve been meaning to tackle a few garden projects but haven’t found the time, we’d love to help.

We can help with:
Deadheading flowers for another flush of blooms
Weeding and garden clean-up
Fresh mulch to keep moisture in and weeds down
Feeding plants and improving soil health
Picking up branches and general tidying
Catching up on those little projects you’ve been putting off

Whether you need an hour of help or a full garden refresh, we’re happy to come take a look.

We have room for a few projects over the next two weeks.

Send us a message, and let’s get your garden looking its best for the rest of summer.
